With no doubles or byes in Round 9, nailing your captain or vice-captain looms as a critical decision. Monday’s first-up game offers three enticing VC options but who will you pick if they don’t come off?
It’s a pertinent question which many SuperCoaches leave as an after-thought, preferring to focus on their three trades.
Often in AFL Fantasy or SuperCoach one of the best indicators of a good performing captain is the opposition. A lot of focus is given to that, yet it’s seldom regarded in BBL. Some sides give up more points than others, through a style of play or perhaps simply because they’re not very good.
For example, the Renegades are bottom of the table and subsequently are scoring the fewest points and conceding the most.
While Stars’ matches have typically been high scoring in terms of runs this season, meaning big SuperCoach BBL scores too.
So after eight rounds we’ve crunched the numbers to come up with some trends which indicate good captaincy options moving forward, as well as looked at the form lines of the past four rounds as teams like the Scorchers have put together a run of form.

When it comes to captaincy selections, knowing the opposition which offer up the most points is always instructive.
The last time we visited these statistics, the Scorchers were conceding the most points per game, but since then they’ve won four in a row and are now remarkably conceding the fewest. They’ve played three of those games on their home deck Optus Stadium, which they’ll farewell on Tuesday night, so take note of those venue-related fluctuations.
