Sydney coach Dean Cox has explained the decision to manage Brodie Grundy for Saturday’s clash with lowly Richmond at the SCG.
In-form Grundy has been left out with deputy ruckman Peter Ladhams coming into the side for a rare opportunity.
Cox said: “Brodie has had a huge workload, we want to make sure we get him right for the whole year, he’s been phenomenal.
“Pete (Ladhams) has been in great form in the VFL so it gives him his chance.”
Callum Mills is also out for the Swans who have made 4 changes.
Cox said: “Callum’s calf was a little tight so we want to make sure we get that right. We expect him to train over the weekend and hopefully play next week.”
Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan has revealed Dayne Zorko could miss a further 6 weeks with a quad injury.
Fagan said: “He felt sore again in training last week and scans have revealed he’s got more damage there than previously. He could be out for up to six weeks.”
He added: “It’s a concern. But he is 37 years of age, so maybe that’s got something to do with it. It’s just one of those things in the rehab process. All rehab processes don’t go perfectly, unfortunately.
“He was looking good and then in the last training session last week he felt it again and we re-scanned it, and it’s not great news.”
Collingwood has named Nick Daicos despite having scans on his foot following their win over West Coast.
Pies coach Craig McRae said: “I think everyone went in for scans this week. I popped in for a couple on my shoulder as well – that was a revolving door.”
St Kilda’s Sam Flanders went down with an apparent Achilles injury in Thursday’s loss to Hawthorn.
Saints coach Ross Lyon said: “Really simply it’s an Achilles injury. It looked serious but I can’t speak for the doctor. The MRI is yet to occur. We’ll provide an update at the right time.”
