Ben Ashton from AFL SuperCoach 360 weighs up the best vice-captain and captain options for Round 24.
Final round. Final Captain’s Corner.
* Max Hall vs GCS
Hall has been in superb form, the Saints are decimated by injury, and he comes up against a non-tagging GCS. I absolutely love Hall as a POD VC pick.
* Nick Daicos vs Lions
Daicos is strolling towards the Brownlow as unanimous favourite, and both Collingwood and Brisbane will be desperate to grab the W on Friday night. If it weren’t for Gawn and Baz, Nick would be my VC this round. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he capped off the season with a 150.
* Will Ashcroft vs Collingwood
Ashcroft’s form during the back half of the season has been simply elite. Couldn’t fault anyone for dropping the VC on him Friday night.
* Max Gawn vs Bulldogs 🔐
Gawn has had a monster season and the Demons are on their way to a top-four finish. With the Bulldogs without Tim English, Gawn is the obvious VC/C play this weekend. Lock him in for 150+.
* Bailey Smith vs Richmond 🔐🔐
Captain. 🧑✈️
* Izak Rankine vs GWS
Rankine is the highest-priced player in SuperCoach and his last month has been absurd. His role has been filthy and I wish I grabbed him 4–5 weeks ago. The Crows will want to enter finals on a win, and he’s a great Captain option if you own him.
* Errol Gulden / Brodie Grundy vs North Melbourne
So much controversy surrounding Sydney this weekend, and no doubt Gulden and Grundy will be looking to take some of their anger and frustration out on North, who will be without Sheezel.
They could combine for 300 here.
* Hawks vs WCE
I’m not really a fan of anyone here as a Captain choice. No doubt 8–10 Hawks will tonne up, but they’re so balanced that it’s difficult to pick who will produce the ceiling game.
🔒 I’M LOCKING IN MAX GAWN AS VC against the Bulldogs.
🧑✈️Then it’s Baz as Captain against Richmond.
I hope these articles have helped you throughout your 2026 season. Best of luck if you’re still playing SC finals — and I’ll see you next season for Captain’s Corner! 🧑✈️
