Popular Trade Ins

1. Kade Chandler (traded in by 14.2k coaches)

The Demons rookie had a massive round one, with no one expecting him to go as well as he did. He scored 104 points from 16 disposals, 8 marks, 7 tackles and 1 goal 2 behinds. He rose $60k, pricing him at $260k and with a breakeven of -27, he’s the rookie to get this week. A flag though, all four of Christian Salem, Jack Viney, Bayley Fritsch and Steven May are all set to return this week, so even though he played well, his job security is still no sure thing.

2. Tom Green (traded in by 7.1k coaches)

Green showed signs in the first 4 games last year he can score well, and judging by what we saw on the weekend, he looks set to take his game to a new level. Had a huge game against the Crows, with 37 disposals, and importantly, 6 marks and 4 tackles for 128 points. A great underpriced option that looks very likely to average 100+, and especially for those Kelly owners, you can also bank some cash going down to Green.

3. Bodhi Uwland (traded in by 3.8k coaches)

Young Bodhi was a round one bolter, after not being on coaches radar due to not playing in the practice games. He had a solid debut as well against a tough Swans team, scoring 68 points from 20 disposals. Weller is available for selection this week, and both Wil Powell, Brandon Ellis and Sean Lemmens could be available for selection within the next fortnight, so his job security is not great, but still an option for coaches to consider.

4. Nick Daicos (traded in by 3.7k coaches)

How good did Nick Daicos look against Geelong on last Friday night? This guy is a star. Racked up the pill and points against the reigning premiers, with 35 disposals and 7 marks for 114 points. Looks to be a great option, but coaches trading him in should temper expectations this week. Plays Port Adelaide who are not only the hardest team for defenders to score against, but he could also cop some attention from Willem Drew.

5. Harry Sheezel (traded in by 3.3k coaches)

The Rising Star nominee from round one, the Cheez looked fantastic in his debut. Recorded 34 disposals and 9 marks for 118 points. Played very similar to Nick Daicos, and looks to be a similar cash cow where we can hold him right up until his bye in round 15. If you didn’t already own him, he needs to be your number one priority this week.

Other popular trade ins: Brennan Cox, Will Day, Charlie Constable, Jason Horne-Francis, Will Setterfield.

Popular Trade Outs

1. Tom Stewart (traded out by 9k coaches)

Coaches that owned Tom Stewart had a tough start to the year, with a forced trade already from just the second game of the season after Stewart went down in the first quarter with a knee injury. Geelong confirmed it was an MCL injury and he’s likely to miss 3-4 weeks so he is a must trade this week if you own him.

2. Rory Laird (traded out by 5.4k coaches)

Well, I didn’t see this coming! After over 30% of the comp started with the most expensive player in the game, Laird dropped a stinker in the scorching heat against GWS, with only 18 disposals and 2 tackles for just 57 points. To put into context, that was his lowest score since round 3 2015! I don’t recommend trading him, as he is too good a player and will bounce back. The only scenario i would trade is if you have Tristan Xerri and you don’t have another avenue to get cash, you could go Laird to Tom Green and then use that money on top of Xerri to get up to a Tim English, Max Gawn, Jarrod Witts or Sean Darcy.

3. Josh Kelly (traded out by 5.2k coaches)

Another forced trade for coaches, with Josh Kelly ruled out of the game early in the last quarter with concussion. With that, he will miss a minimum of 12 days through HIA protocols. He is probably a trade too, but if you have a player like Ollie Hollands (who plays on Thursday night), you could loop him on the bench and if he goes 80+ you could hold Kelly and make other moves.

4. Liam Jones (traded out by 4.5k coaches)

Another injury that coaches have to deal with from the opening round. Jones suffered a neck injury against Melbourne during the second quarter and did not return. Has not been ruled out this week, and if you have other pressing issues and he plays, you could hold. However, if you didn’t get on a Will Day, going Jones up Day is a good move.

5. Fergus Greene (traded out by 3.8k coaches)

This one is probably more to do with coaches trying to find a way to get Kade Chandler into their team. With Greene dropping a poor score of 30 from the weekend, coaches see him as the best option to trade out and go up to Chandler. Isn’t a must trade as he will have better days and his job security is solid, but it is a valid play to go him to Chandler.

Other popular trade outs: Tristan Xerri, Lachie Cowan, Liam Baker, Oliver Hollands, Bailey Laurie.
