Carlton defender Nic Newman will miss at least a fortnight due to a hamstring injury. Newman is on a modified program with his availability listed as TBC.
The Blues update said: “Sustained a hamstring injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game, with scans revealing a hamstring strain. The Club will now work through his recovery timeline over the next fortnight.”
Ruckman Liam Reidy suffered a concussion in the VFL and has entered protocols, making him unavailable for Round 21.
St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall is no certainty to return this round following a back spasm that caused him to be a late withdrawal against North Melbourne.
Saints general manager of football Lenny Hayes said: “Each of Cooper (Sharman), Rowan, and Campbell (Lake) were withdrawn in the 48 hours before the game against North Melbourne.
“Our medical and high-performance team will continue to closely assess the trio in the lead-up to Saturday’s game against Sydney and we hope they are declared available post main training.”
West Coast confirmed Oliver Francou will miss a short period of games due to a knee laceration.
Eagles High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said: “Obviously a pretty disturbing injury on Friday night, however the prognosis for this injury is pretty favourable.
“Thankfully nothing structural was damaged, so his wound was washed out and cleaned over the weekend, and we will wait for it to heal before he returns to training and play.”
Hawthorn backman Noah Mraz will miss the next couple of weeks due to a lacerated kidney after reporting mild abdominal pain after Saturday’s win over Essendon, although his timeline isn’t yet clear.
Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “He has a kidney injury. It’s on the minor end of things, so we haven’t put a timeline on his return yet.
“We’re confident that he’ll play football again this season. It certainly won’t be in the next couple of weeks, but at the back end of the season, we’ve got a level of confidence that we’ll see him again.
“We won’t be able to resume any conditioning for a little while yet, but we’ll update each week as to how he’s progressing.”
Adelaide didn’t mention Wayne Milera in their injury update despite reports of a calf concern, along with Lachlan McAndrew.
GWS confirmed Finn Callaghan’s season is over due to an ankle injury, while Brent Daniels has returned to running but will continue to be managed with no timeline set.
Kieran Briggs is in the mix to return following an infected wound on his leg but GWS said he will need to prove his readiness to return at training this week.
Richmond have listed youngsters Jasper Alger (ankle) and Tom Burton (groin) as tests.
Essendon confirmed Jordan Ridley (foot) and Sullivan Robey (knee) will miss this round due to injuries.
