Waiting in the Wings: Crouch stars with 42 disposals, Hollands solid, Hunter & Naitanui press their case

Adelaide’s Matt Crouch responded well after being dropped last week, finishing with 42 disposals and a goal, while Gold Coast’s Elijah Hollands only managed 15 touches in heavy loss with a debut beckoning.

Lachie Hunter continues to build form in the VFL and could be in line for a return to the senior side. Likewise Toby McLean finished with 2 goals and 19 disposals in his return from an ACL injury. Both could put pressure on the job security of Robbie McComb.

Nic Naitanui should come straight back in the senior side after finishing with 26 hit outs and two goals. He is likely to replace rookie ruck option Callum Jamieson, while Harry Edwards could put pressure on Rhett Bazzo after 23 marks and 30 touches.

Mid-season draftees Josh Carmichael (Collingwood) and Jye Menzie (Essendon) continue to push their case for a debut. Menzie was lively all day, kicking 4 goals to go with 12 disposals.
