The Dees said about Max Gawn (AF $845k SC $608k RUCK) in an update: “Max Gawn was back running at Casey Fields on Monday morning, taking big steps forward in his syndesmosis rehab. Port Adelaide remain hopeful but non-committal on Zak Butters (AF $614k SC $471k) returning this week from an MCL sprain. The club said in an update: “Butters will need to show he has overcome the sprained medial ligament in his left knee that kept him out of the win over the Suns.”

Sydney coach John Longmire spoke to the media and was asked about the form line of Isaac Heeney (AF $648k SC $459k M/F). He said: “For the first 5 or 6 weeks, he was probably one of the really top players going around and it’s hard to maintain that … his role hasn’t changed a great deal.”

Carlton revealed Jordan Boyd (AF $325k SC $242k DEF) has a foot fracture and will miss an “extended period”. The club said Sam Durdin (AF $201k SC $123k DEF) is “2 to 3 weeks” away after a knee issue, but fellow key defender Jacob Weitering (AF $481k SC $426k DEF) is only one week off returning.

Jarryd Lyons (AF $810k SC $484k MID) has been cleared of any structural damage to his ribs after a heavy clash on Thursday night. The club said: “Following the match … sent him for scans on Saturday to be certain – and fortunately he was officially cleared of any breaks or fractures.”

Geelong explained the decision to hold back Patrick Dangerfield (AF $619k SC $435k MID). Head of Medical and Conditioning Harry Taylor said: “The decision was made last week for Patrick to continue an additional period of training as the last signs of tightness clear.

“He has put in some big sessions with the group and the medical and conditioning team will continue to work through the best plan for Patrick this week.”
