Lachie Whitfield (AF $741k SC $423k D/M) will be a test for this weekend. The update said: “Whitfield has been managing an ongoing ankle injury but is expected to train fully on Friday and put his hand up for selection.”

Tom Stewart (AF $870k SC $605k DEF) appears to have avoided any further damage after a concussion on Friday night, amid fears of a jaw issue.

Geelong head of medical and conditioning services Harry Taylor said: “Tom Stewart left the game under the concussion protocols in the 2nd quarter and will enter the mandatory AFL concussion guidelines.”

Sam Menegola (AF $726k SC $491k MID) got through a VFL game on the weekend following injury, putting pressure on Cooper Stephens’ (AF $307k SC $188k MID) selection, although fellow mid Brandan Parfitt (AF $632k SC $377k MID) will miss games needing hand surgery.

Geelong said in the update: “Will be hoping to raise his hand as a potential replacement when the Cats take on the Eagles in a fortnight’s time.”

Sam Skinner (AF $208k SC $123k D/F) is available again for Port. The club update said: β€œHas cleared the AFL’s concussion protocols and is again available for selection, having missed the SANFL loss to North Adelaide last week.”

Finally, the Western Bulldogs confirmed that they had accepted the two-game ban handed to Bailey Smith (AF $872k SC $553k M/F) for headbutting.
