SuperCoach R12 and R13 doubles and byes updated, Strikers sign import, Mujeeb & Agar out for season
The SuperCoach Round 12 and 13 doubles and byes were changed after a major BBL fixture update, while the Adelaide Strikers signed a new import and Wes Agar and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s seasons are over.
The big news of the day was the BBL confirming updated fixtures in order to slot in the unscheduled Brisbane Heat-Sydney Sixers game which had SuperCoach implications on Round 12 and 13’s doubles and byes.
Long story short, the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars have doubles in Round 12, but the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades have byes.
In Round 13, four teams have doubles and there’s no byes. The teams on DGWs are the Heat, Sixers, Hurricanes and Renegades.
The Adelaide Strikers named a 15-man squad to play the Perth Scorchers from 10:40am AEDT on Friday, with a new signing included.
Gloucestershire top-order batsman Ian Cockbain ($125k BAT) comes into the Strikers squad, having made 244 runs in eight knocks with a 135 strike rate in the 2021 Vitality Blast batting at first drop.
Rashid Khan ($149k BWL) is out having departed for Afghanistan duty, while Wes Agar ($137k BWL) will miss the rest of the season with a side injury.
The Scorchers confirmed a 13-man squad late in the evening, with Matt Kelly ($158k BWL) a shock absentee. Perth explained: “Matt Kelly (COVID-19 protocols) has been left out as a precaution.”
Strikers: Siddle (c), Cockbain, Conway, Fawad, Gibson, Hunt, Kelly, Nielsen, O’Connor, Scott, Short, Thornton, Weatherald, Wells, Worrall
Scorchers: Turner (c), Agar, Behrendorff, Carder, Evans, Hardie, Hatzoglou, Hobson, Moody, Morris, Patterson, Sabburg, Tye
The Brisbane Heat confirmed Mujeeb Ur Rahman ($156k BWL) will also be departing for Afghanistan duty.
The Heat update said: “The (Strikers) match was also the last for the Heat for Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman as he has been called in for the international series against the Netherlands in the UAE.”
But some good news was Fakhar Zaman ($114k BAT) is available. The Heat said: “Pakistan international batsman Fakhar Zaman will be available for the remaining three regular season games for the Heat, including the Sixers match at the Gabba.”
The Stars also confirmed that Qais Ahmad ($148k BWL) has played his final game and will depart for Afghanistan duty.
