TEAM NEWS

The Sydney Thunder named their 18-man squad to play the Perth Scorchers in Canberra on Tuesday night.

The size of the Thunder squad didn’t offer much insight but they have included Ollie Davies ($74k BAT) and Brendon Doggett ($176k BWL) after injury, replacing Lachlan Hearne ($42k BAT) and Arjun Nair ($107k BAT/BWL).

The Scorchers named an unchanged 17-man squad on Tuesday, although Kurtis Patterson ($122k BAT) remains in doubt but has made progress.

Perth’s update said: “Patterson has taken strides forward since experiencing tightness in his left quad during Perth’s win over Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena on December 20.

“Patterson tested his fitness during a series of running drills throughout the week, improving his chances of being cleared for selection this evening.”

Thunder: Billings, Cook, Cutting, Davies, Doggett, Gilkes, Green, Hales, Holt, Mahmood, McAndrew, Ross, Sams, Sandhu, J.Sangha, T.Sangha, Tremain, Whiteman

Scorchers: Turner (c), Agar, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Evans, Hardie, Hatzoglou, Hobson, Inglis, M.Marsh, Mills, Moody, Morris, Munro, Kelly, Patterson, Tye

UPDATES

A lot of coaches were considering trading out Josh Philippe ($251k BAT/WKP) this round given his high breakeven, although think twice as Sixers coach Greg Shipperd explained his quality.

He told RSN: “He’s in the top top bracket. He’s close to David Warner with his ability to score all around the wicket. Beautiful stroke production. He’s got a hungry head for runs.”
