TEAM NEWS

The Sydney Sixers named an unchanged 16-man squad to play the Brisbane Heat at the SCG on Wednesday with Shadab Khan ($148k BAT/BWL) included.

The Sixers update said: “Under BBL bio-security protocols Shadab is unable to join his teammates until he has been in Australia for a week. Has passed several PCR tests & is being RAP tested daily to ensure his health status is monitored to the minute.”

The Heat added Cameron Gannon ($69k BWL) and Nathan McSweeney ($42k BAT/BWL) to their 15-man squad for the game.

Michael Neser ($127k BAT/BWL) and Mitch Swepson ($159k BWL) were not available due to the Test squad, while Heat captain Jimmy Peirson offered an insight into Xavier Bartlett‘s ($166k BWL) potential return.

Peirson said: “Xavier & Jack (Wildermuth) have been working back to full fitness and form so we’ll look at our options based on the conditions and the likely Sixers team.”

Sixers: Abbott, Christian, Dwarshuis, J.Edwards, M.Edwards, Henriques (c), Hughes, Kerr, Shadab Khan, Murphy, Neil-Smith, Philippe, Pope, Silk, Vince, Winter

Heat: Peirson (c), Bartlett, Bazley, Bryant, Cooper, Duckett, Gannon, Guthrie, Heazlett, Kuhnemann, Lynn, McSweeney, Mujeeb, Steketee, Wildermuth

The Melbourne Renegades named a larger 15-man squad to play the Hobart Hurricanes at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday, with Kane Richardson ($188k BWL) returning from illness while James Seymour ($58k BAT/BWL) was also added.

Seymour’s addition will create some uncertainty around Aaron Finch‘s ($95k BAT) availability having limped around the field on Boxing Day.

The Hurricanes named a 14-man squad to play for the game, with Scott Boland ($139k BWL) unavailable after his 6-7 heroics in the Boxing Day Test. Mitch Owen ($62k BAT/BWL) and Mac Wright ($112k BAT) drop out of the squad.

Renegades: Maddinson (c), Finch, Fraser-McGurk, Harper, Harvey, Zahir Khan, Merlo, Mohammad Nabi, Pattinson, Perry, Prestwidge, Richardson, Seymour, Sutherland, Topley

Hurricanes: Brook, David, Ellis, Handscomb, Jewell, Kann, Lamichhane, McDermott, Meredith, Parker, Rogers, Short, Thompson, Wade (c)

UPDATES

Joe Clarke ($82k BAT/WKP) went down with a hamstring injury which meant he didn’t field on Monday night when the Melbourne Stars beat the Brisbane Heat.

Clarke said on 7Cricket: “It’s alright… Hopefully nothing too serious and I can be out there next game.”
