Langford hamstring injury, Heppell to miss with thumb injury, Treloar close
Kyle Langford’s home-and-away season may be over with a hamstring injury, Dyson Heppell is set to miss this round and Adam Treloar looks likely to return for the Western Bulldogs.
Kyle Langford (AF $661k SC $457k M/F) is set to miss several weeks with a fresh hamstring injury.
Essendon GM of Football Josh Mahoney said: “Scans today have confirmed a minor hamstring strain for Kyle.
“We’re disappointed to be without him for a period of time, particularly given he had just returned from a similar strain after completing a thorough rehab program and performed very well yesterday.
Dyson Heppell (AF $683k SC $517k D/M*) looks like he’l definitely miss this upcoming round with a thumb injury too.
Mahoney said: “Dyson played on yesterday with that broken thumb and he went for scans this morning which confirmed a fracture.
“He has undergone surgery this afternoon and he will likely miss this week but we will wait and see how this progresses over the coming days.
Adam Treloar (AF $692k SC $478k MID) is in the mix to return for the Western Bulldogs after a long-term ankle injury.
Dogs head of medical services Chris Bell said: “He hasn’t skipped a beat since he’s been back training with the main group. He will look to return to selection availability for this weekend.”
Carlton revealed the injury that forced Tom De Koning (AF $448k SC $336k F/R) to be subbed isn’t too bad and he may play this round, which is relevant for the opposition ruck, given Rowan Marshall’s score in Round 20. Carlton play Gold Coast in Round 21.
We’ll likely get lots of injury reports from AFL clubs.
