R14 Rolling Injury Report: Duncan subbed out, Jones hamstring, Greene reported

Stay up to date throughout the round with our rolling injury report from the coaches post-game. With the five-game round extending from Friday night through until Sunday afternoon, these snippets of info will be key.
Hawthorn v Essendon
Changkuoth Jiath (AF $501k SC $389k FWD) had a late knee knock. Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson said: “He came back on to the ground, it was a bit of a scare. The docs assessed him & he just had a knock… We’ll assess that over the next 24 hours, hopefully he’s right to play next week.”
Clarkson also spoke about rookie pair Lachlan Bramble (AF $183k SC $102k MID) and Jai Newcombe (AF $236k SC $102k MID).
He said: “Both (Bramble and Newcombe) those guys are learning their way at AFL level. Hopefully they get more chances. Bramble started the game quite well, faded after half-time. Jai couldn’t get the same pressure around the footy as last week… To get these contests against Sydney & Essendon is great for him and we get another chance next week v GWS.”
GWS Giants v Carlton
Toby Greene (AF $637k SC $455k FWD) was reported for striking. Watch the incident below. Luke Parks (AF $243k SC $181k DEF) was subbed out for Carlton with a corked buttock.
North Melbourne v Brisbane Lions
Neither side activated their sub.
Gold Coast v Port Adelaide
Suns captain David Swallow (AF $679k SC $502k MID) was subbed out with concussion while Lachie Weller (AF $549k SC $367k M/F) had a niggle although coach Stuart Dew wasn’t about the details.
Port lost a few troops with Lachie Jones (AF $332k SC $237k DEF) injuring his hamstring. Power coach Ken Hinkley said: “It’s a hammy. We’ll see how it looks when he gets it scanned. Looked like a pretty good hammy coz he was running pretty fast.”
Robbie Gray (AF $558k SC $456k FWD) was subbed out with a left knee medial strain. Hinkley said: “He’s going to have a scan on his knee. It’s probably a medial but we’ll know exactly when we get there.”
Geelong v Western Bulldogs
Geelong subbed out Mitch Duncan (AF $800k SC $545k MID) early on. Cats coach Chris Scott said: “He’s got a knee injury that kept him out of the game… There’s nothing at this stage to think that it’s a really severe injury, just one that meant he couldn’t play on.”
Later in the weekend, Geelong confirmed he would miss an “extended period” after scans revealed a PCL injury.
“We were expecting that the injury was to Mitch’s PCL, and the scan confirmed that,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.
“There was no other damage to Mitch’s knee. The rehabilitation timelines will be further discussed with our medical and fitness team in consultation with specialists. “We will explore all available options that will allow Mitch to return as quickly and safely as possible.”
Tom Hawkins (AF $600k SC $526k FWD) had a concern in the last quarter. Scott added: “He seems fine. I spoke to him briefly post-game. He might’ve just pinched a nerve in his neck. He said it was sore but nothing structural to worry about as far as we know.”
Lachlan Henderson (AF $514k SC $410k DEF) and Stefan Martin (AF $388k SC $275k RUCK) were both late outs for the respective sides, while Aaron Naughton (AF $570k SC $417k FWD) was subbed out after being whacked in the ribs.
Dogs coach Luke Beveridge said Naughton was a “bit sore” and had gone to get checked but had no specifics.
