UPDATES
Josh Kelly (AF $800k SC $592k M/F*) has been listed as a test for this weekend’s game after an ankle injury sustained early in Round 14’s game against Carlton.
GWS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said: “Both those lads (Hill & Kelly) sprained their lateral ligaments in their ankles and were assessed inside. They were both able to go back on, got strapped up, passed a fitness test and returned and played the game out.
“They’re a bit sore & swollen early in the week. We think by the end of the week they’ll be able to get into training & hopefully be available this weekend.”
Shane Mumford (AF $435k SC $426k RUCK) looks likely to be available to return after missing the Carlton game with a back problem which impact the job security of Kieren Briggs (AF $215k SC $123k D/F).
The GWS injury update said: “Available after missing last week’s match with a back injury he has been managing.”
Port Adelaide confirmed a month out for Lachie Jones (AF $333k SC $243k DEF) after tweaking his hamstring in Round 14 against Gold Coast.
The club put out their injury update which said: “Will also have a period on the sidelines after injuring his left hamstring in the win against the Suns. He is expected to miss about a month of football.”
Robbie Gray (AF $547k SC $450k FWD) will be out for eight weeks too. The update said: “Will have surgery on the knee he injured in the club’s win over the Gold Coast on Saturday… This will see him sidelined for about eight weeks.”
Dylan Williams (AF $170k SC $123k M/F) kicked six goals in the SANFL and has been flagged as a potential debutant.
Power Football GM Chris Davies said: “Dylan Williams performed well in an otherwise disappointing (SANFL) game yesterday. He’s certainly put his name forward to be considered for selection.”
Luke Shuey (AF $678k SC $508k MID) spoke to the media and declared he had pulled up well after his return game in the WAFL where he collected more than 20 possessions, which may impact popular trade-in target Luke Edwards‘ (AF $241k SC $117k MID) role and/or selection.
Shuey said: “I pulled up well. Fingers crossed I get the call up. The body went well, as well as can be expected. The experts said the GPS stuff is what they wanted.”
The Dogs put out their injury report with Stefan Martin (AF $388k SC $275k RUCK) in contention after being a late withdrawal. Dogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell: “He was close to playing but didn’t quite tick all our boxes in the final fitness test. Stef will return to training this week & if he gets through like I expect he’ll return to availability.”
Jack Viney (AF $687k SC $500k MID) is back in the selection mix for Melbourne, with the club declaring him good to return to either the AFL or VFL.
