Three debutants, 21 changes, Gawn cleared, Taylor ruled out

Max Gawn rubbished rumours of an injury and Curtis Taylor was ruled out for several weeks, while there was selection carnage and three debutants confirmed on a busy Tuesday.

Selection was carnage with a total of 21 changes from two matches, while there were three debutants named.
The Crows made eight changes with big ins Tom Doedee (AF $529k SC $433k DEF), Ned McHenry (AF $287k SC $ MID), Fischer McAsey (AF $257k SC $199k DEF), Harry Schoenberg (AF $224k SC $117k MID) and Lachlan Sholl (AF $170k SC $123k DEF).
Popular backline option Andrew McPherson (AF $320k SC $245k DEF) has made way along with rookie Shane McAdam (AF $342k SC $250k FWD).
In the morning, North confirmed well-owned forward Curtis Taylor (AF $381k SC $266k FWD) would miss several weeks with a knee injury.
Roos Football GM Brady Rawlings said: “Curtis Taylor will miss 3 weeks with a knee injury after his heavy knock on the weekend.”
Debutant Lachlan Hosie (AF $170k SC $123k FWD) gets his chance with Taylor out up forward, along with Nick Larkey.
Melbourne also confirmed Kysaiah Pickett (AF $287k SC $223k FWD) had swelling on his ankle and ruled him out, but said he’ll be right for next round.
Max Gawn (AF $951k SC $771k RUCK) was named despite rumours of a soft tissue strain. He’s also spoke to RSN to clarify: “I’m OK… I’m no more battered and bruised than I am during the year (normally). We just checked a few things and I will train today and get on the plane and play the Crows.”
DEBUTANTS ALERT
Adelaide will blood two debutants with Harry Schoenberg (AF $224k SC $117k MID) and Lachlan Sholl (AF $170k SC $123k DEF) to get their first gigs.
The Crows website wrote about Schoenberg: “A ball-winning midfielder who was taken with pick No.24 in last year’s AFL Draft.” Sholl was pick 64 in 2018 AFL Draft. He’s a 185cm half-back/wing.
Lachlan Hosie (AF $170k SC $123k FWD) will debut for North. Hosie was pick 5 in 2019 AFL mid-season draft.
Hosie is a 189cm forward, who kicked 20 goals in 10 VFL games in 2019 after moving across from SA.
DOCKER DUO
Freo don’t play until next round but offered injury updates on Stephen Hill‘s (AF $444k SC $266k DEF/FWD) adductor injury and Michael Walters‘ (AF $727k SC $550k MID/FWD) hamstring.
Freo High Performance Manager Jason Weber said: “Stephen trained really strongly this morning so he’s up and about and ready to go.
“Michael will probably be another week. Obviously we want to look after him and make sure he’s ready to go at full steam when he comes back.”
OTHERS
West Coast rookie Harry Edwards (AF $170k SC $123k DEF) is ticking boxing in his recovery from concussion so he could get another gig next round if Jeremy McGovern isn’t fit.
Eagles Football GM Craig Vozzo said: “Good news is he has passed the early tests that our doctors required him to do under the normal concussion protocols early in the week.”
