Acres out again, Titch’s ‘grumbly shoulder’ worry
It was a low key news day following the first full round of footy in months but there’s some concerning news out of Hawthorn about 2018 Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell.
Popular midfield option Tom Mitchell (AF $677k, SC $619k – MID) has a shoulder issue which may be affecting his scoring ability.
Hawks Football General Manager Graham Wright told afl.com.au: “He’s got a grumbly right shoulder that he aggravated a number of weeks ago.
“He got through the game fine on Friday and he appears to be fine and will play this week.”
Popular Dockers pick Blake Acres (AF $501k, SC $384k – MID/FWD) will miss Round Three’s clash with Port due to a calf strain.
Fremantle high performance manager Jason Weber said: “He’s got a small strain. He’s up and running this morning but he’ll miss this week. We look forward to having him available next week.”
Plenty of Supercoaches fancied Nakia Cockatoo (AF $255k, SC $148k – MID/FWD) in pre-season and they’ll be pleased to hear his positive progress on his hamstring injury.
Geelong General Manager of Football Simon Lloyd said: “Nakia is starting to hit some top speed and he’s completing a lot of the football sessions at the moment so he’s progressing really well.”
Mitch Georgiades’ (AF $258K, SC $130k – FWD) calf issue means he’s fallen out of the Port 22 and needs to “force his way in now” according to Power assistant Brett Montgomery.
Experience injured midfielder Tim Taranto (AF $835k, SC $555k – MID) is listed as being 3-5 weeks away in GWS’ latest injury update with a shoulder injury. Put him on the watch list.
North tall forward Nick Larkey’s return date has been extended out to 3-4 weeks, which may give rookie Tristan Xerri (AF $170k, SC $123k – RUCK) an opportunity at some point, although Todd Goldstein’s form suggests he may not be required.
