R2 Rolling Injury Report: Naismith update, Newman season over

Game by game snippets of key injury information from Round Two, to help forward planning.
Western Bulldogs v St Kilda
The Dogs revealed popular forward Ben Cavarra (AF $173k, SC $123k – FWD) had been withdrawn as an emergency due to a hand injury which will likely impact his future selection opportunities.
Saints coach Brett Ratten also provided an update on the omitted Dylan Roberton (AF $317k, SC $260k – DEF), indicating he’s unlikely to return next round.
“Dyl did some fantastic work to get in a position for Round One but has had some signs he’s not up to the level we’d like him to be,” Ratten said.
“He’s gone away to work on a few things.””He’s been out of the game for some time. He’s got a bit of a challenge at the moment. Hopefully next week we get a (practice) game with Collingwood. Hopefully those who miss out, get a go.”
Sydney v Essendon
No new injuries but Swans coach John Longmire provided an update on Sam Naismith (AF $314k, SC $251k – RUCK).
“At this stage Sam probably won’t be right,” Longmire said. “He’ll be another week, hopefully the week after. “He needs some training under his belt.”
GWS Giants v North Melbourne
No injuries.
Port Adelaide v Adelaide
Rory Sloane (AF $737k, SC $559k – MID) is tough-and-go for next round after suffering a “high grade contusion to his right thigh”. The Crows said he’ll be tested late in the week to determine whether he’s fit to play Gold Coast in Round Three.
Jake Kelly suffered concussion while in the practice game Patrick Wilson dislocated his right shoulder and will undergo scans on Monday.
Gold Coast v West Coast
Luke Shuey iced up his right thigh late but Eagles coach Adam Simpson said he was fine.

Carlton v Melbourne
Nic Newman (AF $676k, SC $524k – DEF) injured his right knee and had to be stretchered off. Carlton confirmed it was a patella tendon injury and later ruled him out for the entire 2020 season.
Brisbane Lions v Fremantle
Nathan Wilson (back spasm) was a late withdrawal for Freo leading to Hayden Young’s (AF $258k, SC $180k – DEF) debut, while Sean Darcy had a knee problem and was forced off.
Freo coach Justin Longmuir said he expects Wilson to be available next week. On Darcy, Longmuir painted a bleaker picture and said: “He’s got a knee injury. How significant we will have to get it scanned tomorrow but probably doesn’t look great at this stage.”
Geelong v Hawthorn
No new injuries, but Cats coach Chris Scott provided an update on Jack Steven (AF $653k, SC $361k – MID/FWD).
“He trained pretty well today,” Scott said. “He’s in our best team, we’d like to play him. It’s a matter of timing and who goes out. Next week if he doesn’t play, it’ll be a conservative call.”
Richmond v Collingwood
No injuries.
