R2 Sunday Teams: Young Swan makes cut, Green dropped

Sunday’s final teams lobbed this afternoon and it was generally bad news, while two coaches offered some good insight into two popular players.
SURVIVED THE CUT
Justin McInerney
Young Swans mid McInerney (AF $189k, SC $123k – MID) is the only good news for coaches from the final Sunday teams.
CUT
Tom Green, Tristan Xerri, Aiden Bonar, Ben Cavarra, Chad Warner, Dylan Stephens
We all saw it coming but Green (AF $252k, SC $166k – MID) not making the Giants’ final 22 is a blow. Given his price, it may be worth downgrading him if you’ve got him to make a few dollars.
NIC MINUTES
Under-priced ruckman Nic Naitanui (AF $472k, SC $457k – RUCK) has lured a lot of coaches but a critical piece of information is how many minutes he’ll play.
The Eagles dropped big man Tom Hickey for pinch-hitter Oscar Allen for their Round Two clash with Gold Coast, so you’d expect more minutes for Naitanui, thus more opportunity to score big.
West Coast coach Adam Simpson, however, explained: “I still think Nic will be a slow burn. We’ll manage his minutes, he’ll be unders for the first part of the season. We don’t want to burn him out too early.”
BEWARE THE SMALL FORWARD
Role is always important to assess when considering rookies, so Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks did us all a favour when he discussed Round Two debutant Ned McHenry (AF $170k, SC $123k – MID).
“Ned gets most of his game up forward and he does have the ability to play wing,” Nicks said.
OTHERS
Talented young forward Kysaiah Pickett (AF $259k, SC $157k – FWD) will not play in Round Two after being banned for one game for breaching the AFL’s Return to Play protocol.
