SuperCoach BBL is open, meaning the eager coaches are already building their starting squads from scratch.
One of the first ports of call in SC BBL is analysing the fixture, followed by locking in a few guns and then finding the value.
We’ve done the work for you, flagging 5 value picks you need in your starting squad.
Ben Dwarshuis ($125k BAT/BWL)
Ridiculous value for a player who’s averaged above 45 for the past 9 seasons, including a season average of 59.3 a few seasons back. Dwarshuis also has B/B status, given he’s been elevated up the Sixers order at times, as well as a Round 1 double. He’s uber consistent. He’s got a high ceiling. He’s simply a lock.
Sean Abbott ($108k BWL)
The Sixers are going to be a recurring theme on this list, with their Round 1 double and value. Abbott, similar to Dwarshuis, has proven SC pedigree. He picks up wickets in clumps. He takes catches too. His ceiling is huge, with season averages of 85.3 and 79.5 in the past, although it’s been a bit lower in recent seasons. Last season he fizzled out but he did score 127 in Round 4.
Chris Jordan ($94k BAT/BWL)
Switched purple for magenta in the off-season. Likely to get a good all-rounder role, bowling key overs and batting 7/8. Averaged 50 only 3 seasons ago. He’s a wicket-taker who takes catches and can hit a few late runs too, so he’s got three methods to score. It is 3 Sixers bowlers – and you might want Jack Edwards too – but his price is simply too low for a player of his quality with a good orle and Round 1 double.
Chris Green ($85k BAT/BWL)
It was a surprise to see the spinner earn B/B status, but he has been regularly coming in around 6/7 for the Thunder in recent times. The Thunder, like the Sixers, have a Round 1 double, thrusting Green into relevance. His price has dropped after taking only 4 wickets in BBL|15 but he’s a T20 gun who averaged 56.4 only 2 seasons ago. Back him to come good.
Will Malajczuk ($39k BAT/BWL)
No Round 1 double, but a potential starting spot in the Perth XI pending Cooper Connolly’s Test status. He’ll likely bat 6/7 but could chip in with some overs with his right-arm offies, which might be handy in Chennai for the opener. If it works out, he’s got a Round 3 double coming too. If it doesn’t work out, he becomes a handy loop.
