Max Holmes’ availability will be assessed ahead of Geelong’s Friday night clash with Carlton following two months out with an ankle injury.
Holmes hasn’t played since sustaining an ankle syndesmosis injury in the Round 19 win over St Kilda.
Geelong’s injury update on Tuesday said: “Max Holmes, who has completed full training over the past week, including today’s main training session, will have his availability assessed ahead of selection.”
James Worpel (hamstring) is still 1-2 weeks away, impacting the Cats’ midfield mix.
Carlton will test both Nick Haynes (ankle) and Will Hayward (ankle) to determine their availability for the Cats clash.
Hugh McCluggage looks set to be available for Brisbane’s trip to Sydney. The Lions declared him “available for selection” in their injury report.
Brisbane said: “McCluggage, who missed the last three rounds of the home and away season with a calf strain, trained on Tuesday where he proved his fitness.”
The game will come too soon for Sydney’s Justin McInerney who’ll miss another week with a hamstring strain but Joel Amartey (Achilles strain) is a test to play.
Adelaide has ruled out midfield pinch-hitter James Peatling due to ongoing hip/groin issues, with Zac Taylor also out following a hamstring strain from Round 24.
Matthew Kennedy will miss the clash with the Crows due to concussion protocols from his head knock against Collingwood. Tom Liberatore (knee) isn’t in contention to play, nor Adam Treloar (reconditioning).
Fremantle previously confirmed Brennan Cox (calf) will miss their clash with Hawthorn on Thursday night.
Hawthorn didn’t put out an injury report but coach Sam Mitchell indicated Jack Ginnivan was likely to return following back soreness.
He said: “(The week off was) really beneficial, we’ll see how he goes at training – I suspect he will be available. He’s a pro, he really goes about it in a very professional way these days and I’m sure he will be fine.”
