Marcus Bontempelli is no guarantee to return for the Western Bulldogs final round clash with Melbourne according to coach Luke Beveridge.
Bontempelli was “managed” by the Bulldogs for Sunday’s draw with Carlton, having had a season impacted by niggles and minor injuries.
It may have been assumed the Dogs were simply giving him a week off, but Beveridge flagged that it may be two games off.
“He’ll want to play,” Beveridge told FoxFooty on Monday night.
“When we talked about the last 2 rounds, we talked about whether maybe 2 is better than just the one to make sure he’s really cherry ripe for the Wildcard Game.
“But he’ll want to play this one, I’m fairly sure. I’ll be talking him out of doing it which will be difficult.”
