Collingwood coach Craig McRae says the Pies expect Josh Daicos to be available to play in Thursday’s clash with Adelaide despite an ankle concern.
Daicos spent time off the field early in Saturday’s win over Carlton but played the game out. He missed training on Tuesday, sparking concerns he’d miss Thursday’s clash.
But McRae is anticipating he’ll be available, revealing they’d name him up and have him travel to SA, albeit flagging a potential late withdrawal if required.
“Josh sort of tweaked an ankle really early in the game on Saturday night,” McRae said.
“It’s a couple of days after the game. He doesn’t need to train at the moment.
“We anticipate he plays. We’ll name him and take him to travel.
“If something changes, that’ll be a last minute thing. At the moment, we anticipate he plays.”
McRae was also asked about a tagging job for Ed Allan, flagging three names, Izak Rankine, Jordan Dawson and Sam Berry.
Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir indicated Shai Bolton should return this round after being managed, pending anything untoward at training on Tuesday. He said: “Positive. He’ll train today. If he gets through training, then he’ll likely be available.”
When asked if he’d rest any players for this round’s derby, Longmuir emphatically said: “Not this week, no.”
Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks revealed Mark Keane will miss Thursday’s clash with Collingwood due to illness.
Nicks said: “Unfortunately, Keaney’s crook, he has been all week. It’s been one that’s just stuck around, so he’s not going to play.
“Nick Murray will play for us, so that’s straightforward. Muz has been in really strong form in the SANFL, so it’s disappointing for Mark, but reinforces the strength of the squad and how important it is.”
