Geelong has confirmed Max Holmes will miss 8-10 weeks, ruling him out for the remainder of the home-and-away season with a major ankle injury.
The Cats update said: “Holmes underwent surgery last Friday to repair a right ankle fracture and syndesmosis injury he sustained during Thursday night’s match against St Kilda. At this stage it is expected he will be sidelined for the next eight to 10 weeks.”
Shaun Mannagh will be assessed this week before being cleared to play after hamstring tightness against the Saints.
Fremantle Director of Performance Adam Beard indicated Shai Bolton will return. He said: “We managed Shai last week, but he trained fully today and looked really sharp so he’s good.”
The Dockers are yet to put a timeline on Jaeger O’Meara but confirmed he has syndesmosis, likely ruling him out for the short/medium term.
Josh Daicos is in some doubt for Collingwood’s clash with Adelaide on Thursday after missing training on Tuesday. The Pies update said: “Josh Daicos experienced ankle soreness during Saturday’s game against Carlton. He will be assessed further ahead of Thursday’s game.”
Isaac Heeney wasn’t listed among Sydney injury update having experienced some back pain in the loss to Adelaide on Friday night.
St Kilda ruckman Tom De Koning is in the mix to return from a ribs injury, listed as a test, which may impact Rowan Marshall’s role. St Kilda’s update said: “De Koning has completed a solid conditioning block and continues to progress well throughout his recovery. The ruckman will be required to tick off a few milestones this week, with his availability to be determined after main training.”
Port Adelaide has revealed Joe Richards will miss a month with a broken finger. Port’s update said: “Richards sustained the injury during Saturday’s game, with scans later showing a fracture in his pointer finger, which will require surgery.”
Dayne Zorko is set to be fine to play this round despite experiencing hamstring awareness against West Coast. The Lions said: “Zorko trained on Tuesday and is expected to face Port Adelaide this weekend.”
GWS confirmed Toby Greene will miss 3-4 weeks with a moderate quad strain sustained in Sunday’s loss to Essendon.
The Giants said: “The skipper (is) expected to be sidelined for the next three-to-four weeks after sustaining a moderate quad strain. Greene was ruled out during the third quarter of Sunday’s match against the Bombers, with scans on Monday confirming the injury and the expected recovery timeline.”
Ruckman Kieran Briggs has been ruled out for another week. GWS said: “Kieren Briggs will remain unavailable for a second week, allowing sufficient time for an infected wound to heal on his leg.”
Brent Daniels remains TBC with his calf injury but GWS said he is due to “return to running later this week”.
Rory Laird’s timeline has been updated to 3 weeks, after initially being listed as 2-4 last week. Essendon’s Xavier Duursma (hamstring) is out for the season, opening up opportunities.
Carlton’s Adam Cerra is in full training and “available to play” while Marc Pittonet (hamstring) is a test to return, potentially impacting Liam Reidy and Flynn Riley’s selection.
Hawthorn has provided a timeline for Karl Amon, listing him as 2-3 weeks away following knee surgery. Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “He’s progressing well.
“Certainly next week against North Melbourne is probably less likely, but there’s some chance of the Brisbane game the week after that we’ll have him ready for that game, but we’ll see how the progressions go over the next seven to 10 days, and then we’ll update accordingly.”
Flynn Perez is a test due to an abdominal complaint. Burge said: “He’s just been managing an abdominal issue, and we just decided last week that we would take the week just to let it settle. He was able to do some conditioning over the weekend and do some more conditioning today, and we’ll resume training with the main group on Thursday and should be available for the weekend.”
Tom Liberatore will face a test to prove his fitness after being a late out with general soreness last weekend. Dogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell said: “He completed a modified game-like session, and if he gets through main training this week like I expect, his magnet will return to the selection whiteboard for this weekend’s game.”
West Coast has declared Harley Reid (ankle) is set to be available but they’ll be without Jack Hutchinson (hamstring) and Liam Baker (suspension), which could open the door for Josh Lindsay who has a fitness test for his quad injury. Cooper Duff-Tytler (calf) also faces a fitness test.
Eagles High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said: “Cooper and Josh completed a solid session on the weekend, and both have had good sessions today. Josh has ticked every box in order to be available for selection this week.”
Richmond declared Jack Ross available after concussion, along with Taj Hotton (ankle). Rookies Tom Burton (groin) and Jasper Alger (ankle) will both be out until Round 22. North veteran Luke McDonald will face a fitness test due to calf tightness.
