Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks says he’s hopeful that Rory Laird’s ankle injury is only minor but will wait on scans.
Nicks revealed that the Crows had weighed up managing Laird or Hugo Hall-Kahan for Saturday’s win over Gold Coast, opting for the latter.
Laird was helped off the ground in the second quarter by trainers with a left ankle injury and didn’t return.
“We don’t know with Lairdy, all precautions have been taken,” Nicks told reporters.
“He’s in a moon boot and touch wood he’s feeling pretty good.
“But at the same time, you just never know with these.
“We won’t know until we get that looked at and scanned, and fingers crossed that it’s not a bad one.”
Hall-Kahan didn’t play in the SANFL on Sunday, with Nicks intimating the five-day turnaround for Friday’s clash away to Sydney would’ve stretched him, suggesting he’s a likely in for Laird.
Nicks said: “Our list at the moment, we have a healthy list. We’ve got some pressure from below which always helps performance at AFL level.
“Hugo being managed was one we tossed around between him and Lairdy. Unfortunately hopefully Lairdy’s a minor ankle.”
