Archie Roberts is set for a stint on the sidelines with Essendon interim coach Dean Solomon revealing the youngster is shattered after injuring his shoulder on Saturday against Melbourne.
Roberts went off in the second quarter when his right shoulder dislocated as he attempted to tackle Kozzy Pickett.
Solomon said: “Archie Roberts’ shoulder has popped. We wait to find out how long that’ll be as well.”
When asked on how Roberts was feeling, Solomon added: “Quickly spoke to him as I walked past. His eyes are down, he’s pretty disappointed.
“He’s shattered with what’s happened. He’s had a good start to the year. To have that injury is obviously disappointing for him.”
Solomon also discussed Zach Merrett’s likely ongoing role, having started on half-back and moved into midfield against the Dees.
“I’d like to continue with him at half-back at this point in time,” Solomon said.
“I’ve got other coaches to discuss that with. It’ll depend on team balance too.
“I’d love to settle him at half-back so we can continue to drive the ball forward a lot more than we currently are.”
