We’re 2 weeks in and one thing is becoming clear… the rucks aren’t affected by the new rules and are absolutely bullying the competition.
Here’s how I rate the top Captaincy options this weekend.
Luke Jackson vs Richmond
Richmond without a (Nank) recognised ruck… this could get ugly. Jackson just held his own vs Gawn – now he gets a training drill against.
Ceiling is ridiculous, Playing Richmond.
My round 3 VC lock.
Tristan Xerri vs Essendon
Coming off a casual 199… and now gets a crack at Blakiston. If you don’t own him, you’re hiding behind the couch when this one is on.
No Brainer, Will annihilate Blakiston, My round 3 Captain lock
Nick Daicos vs GWS
Just cruising so far but still averaging 121. Fresh off the bye playing against GWS, if he gets zero attention (Bedford injured) and off the chain, you’ll want him in your team.
Unless a recognised tagger is involved, Nicks always a safe VC option.
Max Holmes vs Adelaide
Holmes is now elite, running hot and has started the season with 103 & 141 against tough opposition (GCS, Fremantle).
I am 99% buying him in this weekend and am hoping for top 8 midfielder production in return.
If it weren’t for Jackson and Xerri, would highly consider as a VC option.
Jack Sinclair vs Brisbane
Mr Reliable ton machine.
Not sure he goes 150+, but he won’t hurt you.
Perfect if you’re playing it safe.
Zak Butters vs West Coast
This one screams 130+ if the game opens up. The matchup is juicy and Butters goes bang again IMO.
High ceiling with minimal risk involved.
Harry Sheezel vs Essendon
Role is everything and his is elite.
Could easily go 120+ again.
Would be my C if X wasn’t.
Max Gawn vs Carlton
Always capable, often written off, coming up against Pittonet.
Definitely not the worst option this week if you have him.
MY FINAL CALL:
VC — Jackson vs Richmond
C — Xerri vs Essendon

thanks, going xerri
