Three down and one bye round to go. Many coaches found it tricky this week with a lack of premiums coming off their byes and so stashing cash became a popular option.
Look out for some big scores this week, although the depth of many teams may be tested with some good names sitting out, especially in the forward line. So what can we take out of last week to help keep out teams moving forward?
Breaks on Butters
Another week, another excellent win to the Power; however, for the first time in a while it was not the dynamic Zak Butters (77) getting it done that we have become used to. He copped a nasty knock and did not score the same after this, so just keep an eye on him going forward as in the past, this has hampered his scoring. Dan Houston (108) continued his excellent season while Connor Rozee (106) keeps getting it done. Unfortunately popular target Tom Stewart (66) did not see the ball in the first half and put up a poor score. Stay strong coaches, a string of games at GMHBA to come means some big scores for Stewart should not be far away.
What’s with Sheldrick’s TOG%?
Most premiums did their thing in this game with Parker (126), Junkley (113), Gulden (106) and Neale (100) getting it done, but it was the form of a rookie that really stood out. Angus Sheldrick (82) looked a world beater early on (and a little like a Luke Parker clone) and was destined for a ton. Enter John Longmire… 55% TOG for a kid who was running rampant while the Swans were winning. Either Horse realises and he gets more time and some big scores come, or this is a sign that he is on the outer and may be dropped. Then again, he may not have the tank either. Only time will tell, but certainly a fantasy stud of the future!
You couldn’t go Jelly, could you?
The Giants toyed with the Dockers in this game and their players scored accordingly. The return of Josh Kelly (120) did not go unnoticed. You would be a brave coach to do it, but his scoring is elite, can he keep his body right for the rest of the year? The other premiums scored well for both teams, and even those who held Finn Callaghan (108) this long have been well rewarded. Finally the Briggs (97) show just rolled on… Hard to see him putting up a bad score from here on in and if you do not have the big two, he looks to be the perfect R2.
Just stop it T-Bone
Oink Oink? Every week there is a reason Tim Taranto (147) is going to be quieter and every week he just seems to get better. Leave the C on him and enjoy, what a gun. Cotchin (119) wound the clock back for his 300th, as did Dusty (114) who is enjoying a sneaky good season. Those who jumped on Brad Crouch (109) as the premium option this week would have been much happier than those who went Jack Steele (60). I do not care what Ross says, he does not look right and coaches need to get off ASAP (of course ready to be burned!).
The team that never lets you down
Well, the first quarter was seemingly going like the rest of their season and another week of the media bagging the Blues was ahead. Then BANG, the second quarter they awoke from their slumber and the fantasy points flowed as well (someone may have mentioned this coming last week…?). The Doch (124) looked more himself, Cerra (122) has been a shining light and even Cripps (110) got going. Is this a sign of things to come? Can Walsh join the party? Still questions more than answers, but it is a step in the right direction.
Match up, match up, match up
One of the biggest indicators of future performance is the match up players face and North Melbourne continues to be a fruitful playground. Combined with the Dogs high scoring potential and this game went exactly to plan. The Bont (158) toyed with the Roos (still cannot believe I traded him earlier this year), English (134) got back to his best, Treloar (113) was great again and even Cody Weightman (108 found a ton). As the headline suggests, look for match ups like the Roos when streaming forwards and picking your captains as players can fill their boots!

With the last week of the byes here, make sure you are planning for how your team will look the following week. Continue to get those rookies off field and cash in on those mid pricers that have done their job. When Round 16 comes around, you should look at your team and be in a better position than before, do not just sideways for points. Good luck and happy trading.
