Choosing the right captain can make all the difference in determining the outcome of your weekend. Fortunately, there are a few straightforward yet effective options that can help maximize your scoring potential this week.

Here are some suggestions that could set you apart from the pack in these crucial early rounds.
1. Rory Laird
Rory was given a Mulligan after Round 1 and came back with a vengeance. Those who invested $700k were rewarded in Round 2 with a signature performance. Playing Port Adelaide under the lights could see him produce another 125+ score, which is exactly what you would expect from him.
Optimal choice: Captain
2. Luke Davies-Uniacke
LDU seems like a fantastic choice when you consider the opposition (struggling Hawthorn who are leaking points), current form, and previous encounters. Having scored over 100 in both games last season, LDU is an excellent option to bank 125+.
Optimal choice: Captain
3. Clayton Oliver
Clayton Oliver is always a formidable C option. Many have chosen the set and forget method and saved themselves the stress of it all! He traditionally scores well without going large against the Swans, but expect Oliver to lead from the front this weekend to set the Demons back on track.
Optimal choice: Captain
4. Marcus Bontempelli
The Dogs have been lackluster compared to previous years of incredible scoring capacity led by their captain. Traditionally, he doesn’t score below 100 against the Lions, and you can assume he will have extra motivation, as will his teammates, as they attempt to stay within reach of the top eight. With a Thursday game, he would make a great VC option if you have him in your team.
Optimal choice: Vice Captain
5. Nick Daicos
Why not consider him? He has excellent scoring potential and would be a solid VC selection for those daring enough to pass on the Thursday night footy options, with the Pies playing Friday. Richmond usually allows midfielders to score well, and you won’t be the only one taking him on as the VC.
Optimal choice: Vice Captain
Smokies
Josh Dunkley
Although he has yet to set the world alight at the Lions, he seems to be building momentum. Look to place the VC on him on Thursday as he takes on his former club.
Optimal choice: Vice Captain
Tim English
Tim loves to go big against the Lions, averaging 119 against them. He would make a great VC option.
Optimal choice: Vice Captain
Harry Sheezel
People will call you mad but this is a genuine option considering the role he has up against the Hawks. Surely, Finn Maginness isn’t tagging a third gamer. We’ve seen what he can do and would be an absolute smokey that could give you considerable bragging rights and potentially be a Saturday afternoon VC.
Optimal choice: Captain
