UPDATES
Nic Maddinson ($89k BAT) was stretchered out of Sunday’s game against the Perth Scorchers with a worrying knee injury. Gades stand-in captain Aaron Finch said: “He’s going to have a scan tomorrow but it didn’t look very good. He’s still in quite a bit of discomfort. Looking at the replay, it looked like his foot got stuck in the ground and everything got twisted.”
Peter Handscomb ($51k BAT/WKP) also left the game in the fielding innings with apparent exhaustion amid hot conditions at Marvel Stadium. Finch added: “He’s OK now. He’s had an ice bath to try and get his body temperature. It was actually the umpires that were worried about him. They felt he was stumbling around and wanted him to go off. It was a little bit scary.”
Marcus Stoinis ($87k BAT/BWL) dominated this round with a huge knock against the Adelaide Strikers, having struggled earlier this season.
On his early season struggles, Stoinis said: “I was probably trying to do too much, too soon (early in BBL). Got caught up in wanting to hit boundaries… I was a bit frustrated with Covid early on and tried to do too much, too soon. You’ve got to keep yourself in check.”
