Keidean Coleman (AF $619k SC $437k D/F) was among the Lions out with health and safety protocols. Fagan added: “I don’t really know. I think all the COVID boys except for Noah Answerth… will be (available).”

Massimo D’Ambrosio (AF $284k SC $159k DEF) limped off in the third term and was subbed out for the Dons. Essendon coach Ben Rutten said: “I think, at this stage, just a corkie. Quite a bad one, he was struggling to get going. We pushed him back out there to see if he’d get through it but couldn’t get back to his best.

Collingwood v North Melbourne

Taylor Adams (AF $686k SC $420k MID) hit his head late and will go into concussion protocols. Jordan De Goey (AF $617k SC $416k M/F) missed the game with a quad injury. Pies coach Craig McRae said: “It seems like it’s going to be a couple of weeks injury, time will tell exactly what that looks like.”

McRae spoke about debutant Josh Carmichael (AF $190k SC $102k M/F). He said: “He had moments. Looked like in the second he got going. We’re not naïve to think it’ll take some time for him… but I think he showed enough.”

Jaidyn Stephenson (AF $520k SC $281k M/F) was subbed off in the fourth quarter with a hip concern. North coach David Noble said Jason Horne-Francis (AF $503k SC $292k M/F) will “come into contention next week” after playing VFL this round.

Aaron Hall (AF $703k SC $495k DEF) was absent with a quad injury, but Noble said: “Aaron Hall looks like he might be ready next week… that really helps.”

Sydney v Western Bulldogs

Peter Ladhams (AF $541k SC $387k RUC) was subbed out with a thumb injury which Sydney coach John Longmire said would require surgery. Anthony Scott (AF $440k SC $319k M/F) was subbed out with concussion.

Geelong v Melbourne

Clayton Oliver (AF $965k SC $711k MID) hurt his thumb during the game. Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said: “We think it’s just bruised. We’ll let that settle over the next few days and make sure it’s OK. Hopefully it’s just a bruise situation.”

The Dees have since confirmed a fracture in his thumb which is likely to see him miss one game. Dees General Manager Football Performance Alan Richardson said: “Clayton had scans on Friday after receiving a kick to the hand against Geelong on Thursday night.

“Unfortunately, scan results have shown a fracture in Clayton’s thumb, which will require surgery and most likely rule him out of selection for Round 18. The good news is that if he does miss the game with Port, we expect he will be back and ready to go for Round 19. He will be able to continue his conditioning work and we will look to integrate him back into light skills following his surgery.”
