UPDATES
Essendon have confirmed that Darcy Parish (AF $824k SC $586k MID) will miss around four weeks with a calf strain. Dons Footy GM Josh Mahoney said: “We got the area scanned which has come back to reveal a strain. We remain hopeful that Darcy will be in a position to return to play before the end of the home-and-away season.”
Jordan De Goey (AF $617k SC $416k M/F) is the man to make way for Carmichael, ruled out with a quad strain. Collingwood said in an update: “Had a scan yesterday after experiencing quad soreness during training. The scan revealed a slight quad strain. De Goey will be assessed further next week but, at this stage, he looks to miss 2-3 games.”
Port coach Ken Hinkley confirmed Zak Butters (AF $614k SC $471k M/F) will return from a knee injury having been named in the 22. He said: “The only confirmation I can give you is that Zak will definitely play and Lachie (Jones) won’t. We expect to go in as named but we have got a few boys we’re checking out still.”
Carlton coach Michael Voss backed in the form of Patrick Cripps (AF $777k SC $520k MID). Voss said: “I reckon his last couple of weeks have been fantastic… I think it’s unrealistic to expect he will play at that level for 23 weeks of the season.”
