Brisbane skipper Dayne Zorko (AF $715k SC $430k D/M) will miss Thursday night’s game with Melbourne due to a minor hamstring strain. Lions coach Chris Fagan said this morning: “He was close, but I think it’s best to give him a rest, take the opportunity of the bye plus another week.”

Zac Bailey (AF $578k SC $399k M/F) is out due to health and safety protocols, while James Tunstill (AF $210k SC $117k MID) will make his debut for Brisbane.

James Tunstill (AF $210k SC $117k MID) was taken at pick 41 in the 2021 AFL Draft. He is a 187cm midfielder, who had 27 disposals, nine marks and one goal in Brisbane’s last VFL game.

James Blanck (AF $190k SC $102k DEF) will debut for Hawthorn after the 195cm defender went pick 20 in the 2022 Mid-Season Draft. Hawks Head of Footy Rob McCartney said: β€œHe brings an exciting skill-set into the side, including a strong capacity to compete through the air to nullify his opponents.”

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge offered an update on Tim English (AF $884k SC $605k F/R) but wasn’t definitive about his availability for Round 16 (Dogs play Brisbane on Thursday week) once his mandatory 12-day concussion protocols period is complete.

Beveridge said: “The timeline becomes pretty tight (for Round 16). If he’s OK, he’ll probably be eligible for the Brisbane game. That’ll be up in the air based on his history. He missed some time after that GWS game the other year (2021) as well.”

Massimo D’Ambrosio (AF $204k SC $102k DEF) is set to be named by Essendon to play in Round 15 after debuting last round. Dons coach Ben Rutten said: “I think so (he’ll play Round 15). We love what we saw about him. We know he’s a great ball user, wants to get the ball in his hands, take the game on. We were pleased with some of his contested work too.”

The availability of Darcy Parish (AF $869k SC $607k MID), due to a corked calf, remains uncertain. Rutten said: “He’ll do most of the session today. It’ll depend on how he pulls up and gets through that. Once we get that information, we’ll be able to make a call on that.”

Jordan De Goey (AF $647k SC $444k M/F) will not play this weekend amid his whole saga. Collingwood put out a statement that said: “Has been granted personal leave by the Club and will not take part in the Round 15 match against the GWS GIANTS to be played on Sunday.”

The role of Harry Himmelberg (AF $673k SC $503k FWD) is also uncertain with GWS Giants caretaker coach Mark McVeigh revealing key defender Phil Davis (AF $373k SC $285k DEF) is a “big chance” to return from injury after playing in the VFL last weekend.

McVeigh also spoke about Himmelberg and said: “He’s a real weapon. We’ve got the ability to put him in multiple positions. I’m not afraid to go in a different direction this week. He can obviously play forward and back, he can chop out in the ruck.”

Tim Taranto (AF $784k SC $465k M/F) is in the mix to return from a back issue. McVeigh said: “Tim at this stage is ticking everything off we need to. We’ve got our main session on Friday, if he gets through that he’ll become available. He obviously had a successful return in the VFL.”

Braydon Preuss (AF $657k SC $444k RUC) is sidelined this weekend due to suspension. McVeigh said: “He contributes really well when he’s there. He hasn’t been there enough lately.  He needs to make sure while he’s in this layoff, he continues to improve his fitness and make sure he’s ready to go when we call him up.”

McVeigh said the Giants are hopeful fellow ruckman Matthew Flynn (AF $559k SC $455k RUC) will be available next round after a quad injury which will rule him out this weekend.

There is some certainty for Dustin Martin (AF $634k SC $466k M/F) who Richmond coach Damien Hardwick declared “will play” this round. He said: “He’s trained well. It knocked him around a bit the virus… He was back on track Saturday, so he’s had a good week of prep, he’s ready to go.”

Jack Steele (AF $892k SC $590k MID) looks certain to play this round for St Kilda after an AC injury. Saints coach Brett Ratten said: “Yeah he does (make the trip to Sydney). Everything going to plan, with him and McKenzie, and how they pull up, they’re expected to play.”

Marcus Windhager (AF $327k SC $231k M/F) is the mix after 32 disposals in the VFL. Ratten said: “He’s a young man who’s ambitious. He shows AFL qualities in the way he goes about it. His form tapered a little bit, it was like ‘go back and get some ball’ and he went and got 32. He’s right in the mix.”

Patrick Dangerfield (AF $619k SC $435k MID) is likely but not certain too. Geelong coach Chris Scott said: “We think so (he’ll play Round 15). We’d like to see his session today but our plan has been conservative. It’s been about getting enough work into Patrick. Every indication is he’ll be ready to go.”
