Adelaide responded to concerns of a Josh Rachele rest, while there were updates for Jason Horne-Francis, Jye Caldwell and Aaron Hall and Angus Brayshaw’s long-term role was clarified.
UPDATES
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin spoke about the role change of Angus Brayshaw (AF $779k SC $486k D/M) into the backline and how that may change with Michael Hibberd and Christian Salem to return soon.
“The information we’ve got about Angus Brayshaw in this period is that he’s an elite half-back flanker and the way that he can impact the game is significant,” Goodwin said.
“With these guys coming back in it will tighten up the competition for spots. But one thing we know is that Angus is playing some great footy and we’re probably going to be hesitant to move him at this point.”

Josh Rachele (AF $435k SC $241k M/F) didn’t train fully at Adelaide on Wednesday, although Crows assistant coach Nathan van Berlo clarified he wouldn’t be rested.
He said: “Maybe at some stage throughout the year it might be game management but at the moment just a load management. They’ll (Rachele and Soligo) be right to go.”
North Melbourne rookie Jason Horne-Francis (AF $509k SC $314k MID) looks set to return after missing with hamstring tightness. Kangas coach David Noble said: “If Jason, Jy (Simpkin), Hugh (Greenwood) and X (Tristan Xerri) get through training they’ll all be considered.”
Aaron Hall (AF $818k SC $511k DEF), however, is several weeks away with a hamstring injury. Noble said: “(He won’t play) this week. He’s a sneaky chance before the bye.”
Jye Caldwell (AF $572k SC $375k MID) is in the mix to play this round despite his shoulder issue. Essendon Head of HP Sean Murphy said: “Caldwell is actually (looking) pretty good… We’ve just got to see how that settles and test his availability later in the week but we’ll leave that door ajar at this point.”
