Greg Clark (AF $190k SC $117k MID) will debut for West Coast, having been taken with pick 62 at last year’s AFL Draft. He is a 24-year-old 195cm midfielder who had 25 disposals in the WAFL last weekend after a pre-season shoulder injury.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said: “He popped his shoulder early in the pre-season and missed six weeks. He’s come back and played a couple of games at WAFL level and showed he’s ready. Really happy for him and can’t wait to see him play.”

Hawthorn have handed a debut to Jackson Callow (AF $190k SC $123k FWD), who went pick 17 in last year’s mid-season draft. He is a 19-year-old 195cm forward, who has kicked five goals in four VFL games this year.

GWS have given Cooper Hamilton (AF $190k SC $102k M/F) a debut. He was picked up in the 2021 AFL Rookie Draft and is an 18-year-old 184cm defender who had 20 disposals, eight marks and five tackles in the VFL last weekend.

Tristan Xerri (AF $523k SC $346k R/F) has been ruled out for approximately a month with a foot injury. North GM of Football Performance Dan McPherson said: “The foot issue has been detected early and there is no sign of a fracture. We’re hopeful he will be available for selection in a month’s time.”

Rowan Marshall (AF $684k SC $472k RUCK) has been ruled out after labouring with a corked thigh last round against GWS. The Saints said in an update: “Ryder and Campbell replace the injured Jack Hayes and Rowan Marshall, who battled through last week’s win against GWS with a corked thigh.”

Josh Ward (AF $406k SC $236k MID) has been managed. The Hawks said: “Josh Ward and Denver Grainger-Barras are among three outs for Hawthorn, with the young duo managed following a five-day break.”

Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge provided an update on Tim English (AF $837k SC $572k R/F) who is out with a hamstring injury. Beveridge said: “We’ve got him on paper as 1-2 weeks away. It might be a bit tight for the Friday game against Port Adelaide but we’ll wait & see. We don’t anticipate he’ll miss any more beyond that game.”

Beveridge said Robbie McComb (AF $210k SC $102k MID) would play this week too. He said: “Robbie works extremely hard. He had his opportunities with the footy that we believe over time he’ll make the most of. He’ll definitely play again this week.” He has been named in their 26.

Ollie Dempsey (AF $207k SC $102k FWD) has held his spot for Geelong. Cats coach Chris Scott said: “Probably (he’ll play again). We’d like to. We think he played well enough to hold his spot. We’d like to think if a young guy comes in, we’d keep him in for as long as we can.”

Patrick Dangerfield (AF $686k SC $483k MID) will miss. Scott said: “We’re not sure yet. We’re optimistic that he’s going to be available. The question for us is whether we should play him given the lack of training he’s had over the last month.”

Amid the ruck carnage, Hugh Dixon (AF $329k SC $216k F/R) has been named as an emergency following a calf injury. Simpson said: “He’s some chance. He had a little calf last week. Being a shorter week, we need to see how he pulls up tomorrow. He’s a chance.”
