UPDATES

Highly-owned Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy (AF $802k SC $544k RUCK) is set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines due to a PCL injury, with initial reports claiming a 10-12 week layoff.

Collingwood’s update was vague on timeframe but said: “Grundy will miss a number of weeks of the 2022 season due to a knee injury.

“Scans today revealed the 28-year-old two-time All Australian injured the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a hit out contest in yesterday’s ANZAC day match against Essendon at the MCG… Grundy will consult with specialists later this week. A further update will be provided then.”

The Western Bulldogs provided an update on the hamstring injury to Tim English (AF $837k SC $572k R/F). Dogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said: “Tim is back up and running and progressing well. He won’t play this week but we hope to see him return to availability in the next couple of weeks.”

Essendon cleared Darcy Parish (AF $842k SC $594k MID) of any serious injury to his ankle. Dons Football GM Josh Mahoney said: “Scans have excluded significant structural damage, which will mean he remains a chance to play against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday. We will continue to see how the discomfort settles in the coming days before determining his availability to play.”

Patrick Dangerfield (AF $686k SC $483k MID) will be a test to return from a cork. Geelong head of medical and cond services Harry Taylor said: “Patrick is managing a calf cork from the Round 5 game against Hawthorn. Patrick will continue his reconditioning program as planned and we will assess later in the week.”

Matthew Kennedy (AF $773k SC $426k MID) should return for Carlton after soreness. Carlton said: “Has benefitted from the week off and will be available for Round 7.”

Greg Clark (AF $190k SC $117k MID) looms as a possible debutant for West Coast with Elliot Yeo out due to concussion. Eagles coach Adam Simpson said on 7NewsPerth: “He was pretty good on the weekend… He looks like he’s running on top of the ground and he looks pretty good so he’s definitely in the mix this week.”

Hugh Dixon (AF $329k SC $216k F/R) is in the mix to play after a calf issue. Eagles Head of Health Mark Finucane said: “Hugh’s a test this week. He’s functioned well at training and we’ll monitor his response to training over the next day, and then another training session later in the week to put his hand up.”

Richmond young gun Thomson Dow (AF $391k SC $283k M/F) is in doubt after being subbed out with a corkie. Tigers Physical Performance Manager Peter Burge said: “Right now he’s probably more doubtful than probable. We’ll know a bit more after tomorrow’s session.”

Hugo Ralphsmith (AF $374k SC $275k M/F) has been ruled out for the Tigers. Burge said: “He had a pretty nasty collision and got three cracked ribs out of it and some bruising on his lung. He wasn’t up for selection last week and won’t be up for selection this week given the short turnaround.”
