The Melbourne Renegades named a 13-man squad to play the Perth Scorchers on Wednesday night with Aaron Finch ($62k BAT) added as expected.

Josh Lalor, Jono Merlo and Mitch Perry all drop out of the squad, while Cameron Boyce ($106k BWL) wasn’t considered due to a calf injury.

The Scorchers confirmed their squad on Wednesday naming an extended 17-man squad but it looks like Kurtis Patterson ($110k BAT) will miss after undergoing a scan on quad tightness on Tuesday.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges told SEN: “He’s pulled up pretty well. I’d imagine we’re a bit more conservative with it knowing it’s a long tournament and we’ve still got a lot of games in a short time period coming up. I’d imagine he’ll miss this next game. With Bancroft, Hobson or Hardie sitting on the bench, we’re confident whoever comes in can do a good job.”

Voges also clarified Mitch Marsh ($163k BAT/BWL) was fine after being seen favouring his side when bowling. He said: “He’s absolutely fine. The story behind that is that Mitch got a bit of food poisoning from a few days ago & was sore from throwing up. He’ll be important to add that extra bowler for us.”

Lance Morris ($62k BWL) has flown into Melbourne and comes into the Scorchers squad after a side strain.

Renegades: Maddinson (c), Finch, F-McGurk, Harper, Harvey, Zahir Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Pattinson, Prestwidge, Richardson, Seymour, Sutherland, Topley

Scorchers: Turner (c), Agar, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Evans, Hardie, Hatzoglou, Hobson, Inglis, M.Marsh, Mills, Moody, Morris, Munro, Kelly, Patterson, Tye

UPDATES

Honeyball has learned that Jack Wildermuth ($141k BAT/BWL) will be available for selection on Thursday when the Brisbane Heat face the Adelaide Strikers. Wildermuth has been out lately with a back issue (disc related) that requires some management.

Heat import Tom Abell ($116k BAT) will also miss two to four weeks after sustaining a lateral ligament strain in the knee in Sunday’s loss to the Sydney Thunder. Abell was X-factored out at the time.

Scott Boland ($139k BWL) was called into the Australian squad for the Ashes Boxing Day Test leaving the Hobart Hurricanes’ attack decimated.

However, Riley Meredith ($134k BWL) returned for one over on Monday and Canes coach Adam Griffith confirmed he’d play a full game next time out after a hamstring issue.

Griffith said: “That was the plan (to X-factor him out) all along. We’d planned for him to come back fully next game, but his rehab went really well. He probably only had one over in him tonight. He’ll be ready to go for a full game next one.”

Pakistani spinner Shadab Khan hinted he may be headed for the BBL on Twitter, when asked by a fan he replied: “Will announce soon.”
