Scorchers all-rounder Aaron Hardie ($103k BAT/BWL), likely to step in for Ashton Agar ($89k BAT/BWL) early, is still yet to return to bowling after elbow surgery but smashed 99* in Sunday’s WA Premier Cricket T20s. New Scorchers recruit Peter Hatzoglou ($131k BWL) has headed west and played for Joondalup on Sunday, while Strikers spinner Liam O’Connor ($80k BWL) took three wickets.
Popular Thunder bat Oliver Davies ($74k BAT) sustained an alleged fractured thumb playing in NSW Premier Cricket and did not bat, with talk he will miss most of the BBL.
Strikers gloveman Alex Carey ($163k BAT/WKP) hit a century in SA Premier Cricket, while Jake Fraser-McGurk ($62k BAT) and Max Bryant ($117k BAT) both blazed half-centuries in their respective competitions.
Other notable things were Daniel Sams ($203k BAT/BWL) returning to play after being reserve at the T20 World Cup, while Jason Behrendorff ($138k BWL) and Xavier Bartlett ($97k BWL) continued with their bowling loads after injuries.
