Geelong v North Melbourne

Patrick Dangerfield (AF $748k SC $611k M/F) finished the game on the bench with an ankle worry. He told FoxFooty: “Just a bit of a light tweak. Recover early in the week & it’ll get right to go.”

Geelong coach Chris Scott added: “We didn’t feel comfortable subbing him even though he wasn’t go to play any further part. Our best guess is he’ll be right for next week so we shouldn’t sub him out of the game.”

He also declared that Jeremy Cameron (AF $488k SC $388k FWD) is “ready to go, he’s in.”

Aaron Hall (AF $538k SC $398k FWD) was subbed out. North coach David Noble said: “He was concussed. He’ll go into the 12-day protocol so he’ll miss next week. But he’s OK.”

Hawthorn v Melbourne

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin provided a surprise update on Steven May (AF $584k SC $507k DEF) who has a facial fracture. Goodwin said: “We’re really hopeful we’ll get Steven May back next week… He’s a possibility. He had his surgery. If he’s not right, we won’t take a risk with him.”

Adelaide v Fremantle

Adelaide had no major injuries although Rory Laird (AF $763k SC $542k DEF) had a shoulder issue checked. Crows coach Matthew Nicks: “He’s fine. It was a stinger. Obviously he’ll be assessed in more detail but fingers crossed that’ll be fine going forward.”

Nicks also updated on veteran Taylor Walker (AF $655k SC $489k FWD) who had a calf worry coming into the game. He said: “At this point nothing medically. I think he got through the game & was pretty strong & solid.”

Fremantle used their sub with Adam Cerra (AF $660k SC $494k MID) going off with an ankle issue. Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said: “It looks like he’s got a pretty low-grade ankle sprain. We’ll get him back to Perth and scan it. It looks like it’s a pretty good scenario.”

Brisbane Lions v Essendon

Jarrod Berry (AF $627k SC $521k MID) was subbed out for the Lions with a groin issue. Brisbane coach Chris Fagan said: “They said he had groin soreness & couldn’t get going after half-time. We’ll know more once we have some scans. He was able to get out there & move a bit after half-time but wasn’t comfortable with it.”

Fagan was asked again about Lachie Neale (AF $738k SC $585k MID) after his return to form. He said: “I reckon he’s been building. If you track his form, each week he’s got better. Tonight he took it to another level. This is the 1st week he’s been able to train every session.”

Oscar McInerney (AF $529k SC $446k RUCK) appeared to be limping heavily late in the game although Fagan wasn’t asked about him.

Essendon subbed out well-owned defender Jordan Ridley (AF $740k SC $614k DEF) early in the game. Bombers coach Ben Rutten said: “I haven’t caught up with the doctors or him yet but I think it’s concussion.”

Carlton v Port Adelaide

Dan Houston (AF $699k SC $540k DEF) was subbed off with a shoulder injury. Port coach Ken Hinkley said: “Not yet. Obviously he’s hurt his shoulder. He tried to come on but it was ineffective for him. We’ll pass on the correct information as soon as he’s scanned.”

Hinkley brushed off a question about Lachlan Jones‘ (AF $261k SC $139k DEF) ankle issue, instead offering some praise. He said: “Banged up. Lachy Jones is pretty tough. He played alright again tonight I thought Lach. If they’re looking for someone to award the Rising Star to, I reckon he’s pretty good!”

He also mentioned that Hamish Hartlett (AF $556k SC $414k DEF) had copped a “massive corkie”.

Sam Docherty (AF $703k SC $500k DEF) went off early with an issue but returned. Carlton coach David Teague said: “Docherty came off with a hit to the shoulder. He came back on and played out the game. I haven’t heard anything there.”

Western Bulldogs v Gold Coast

Dogs defender Bailey Williams (AF $592k SC $443k DEF) was the major casualty, subbed out. Coach Luke Beveridge said: “Our guys are a bit concerned he may have a crack in his collarbone… It’d be a surprise if it’s better news than that. Scans tonight or tomorrow.”

Sydney Swans v GWS Giants

Tom Hickey (AF $494k SC $381k RUCK) picked up a knee injury late on. Sydney coach John Longmire said: “I think it’s a PCL. Initially it might be a little bit (of time out). It’s unfortunate.”

West Coast v Collingwood

Jordan De Goey (AF $550k SC $398k FWD) was subbed off after a clash in the middle of the clash. Pies coach Nathan Buckley said: “Broken nose and concussion, ultimately. No idea (how many weeks he’ll miss)… More than likely he misses another week (due to concussion protocol), I don’t think he’ll miss more than that with his nose.”

Collingwood also lost Jeremy Howe (AF $650k SC $513k DEF) to a hamstring injury. Buckley said: “Hammies aren’t great at the best of times. We’ll have to have a look at the scans and see how that settles.”

Brody Mihocek (AF $462k SC $339k FWD) had a “bit of an AC stinger”, while Buckley said Levi Greenwood (AF $373k SC $276k MID) was fine despite a calf worry.

West Coast Adam Simpson said Tom Cole (AF $448k SC $330k DEF) and Josh Rotham (AF $522k SC $345k DEF) were OK and he didn’t think they had concussion despite their late head clash.

St Kilda v Richmond

Jimmy Webster (AF $351k SC $278k DEF) was subbed off with a groin injury. St Kilda coach Brett Ratten said: “He had a bit of an adductor. That might be a week. We’re not sure on that yet. We were worried on his injury history that he’d tear it. We’ll get scans tomorrow.” His fitness may impact Tom Highmore’s (AF $240k SC $117k DEF) selection.

Rowan Marshall (AF $717k SC $557k FWD/RUCK) was a late withdrawal along with Zak Jones (AF $621k SC $459k MID) with soreness. On Marshall, Ratten added: “He was really close. He got the plantar fasciitis & the stressor in the same foot. We would’ve had to inject but that’s risky, maybe something ongoing… He’ll be fine for the Port game.”

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick flagged rookie Maurice Rioli (AF $170k SC $117k M/F) isn’t far off, having been among their emergencies. Hardwick said: “He tackles, he tackles, he tackles and some more. I thought he’d be a fair way away but he’s not as far away as I thought. He’s got a bit of work to do but the steps are there.”
