Flynn left out again, carnage as Parks, Dow, Drew, Robertson & Fullarton miss out

The Western Bulldogs named a debutant, Miles Bergman, Jaxon Prior and Zac Williams all got recalled while there were some big omissions and absentees headlined by Matthew Flynn.

There’s no Matthew Flynn (AF $346k SC $227k RUCK) again for the Giants, while Zac Williams (AF $597k SC $458k DEF) and Miles Bergman (AF $227k SC $123k FWD) got named for Carlton and Port Adelaide respectively.

Paddy Dow (AF $328k SC $210k M/F) is dropped along with Willem Drew (AF $445k SC $358k MID), Deven Robertson (AF $266k SC $176k M/F) and Tom Fullarton (AF $197k SC $149k F/R), although they’re all in contention to be their side’s sub.

Port coach Ken Hinkley also assured that Connor Rozee (AF $477k SC $377k FWD) and Orazio Fantasia (AF $458k SC $289k D/F) were fine despite injury concerns.



The Western Bulldogs pulled a surprise with Jordon Sweet (AF $170k SC $123k RUCK) named to debut as they rest veteran Stefan Martin.

Sweet is a 23-year-old 203cm ruckman who has been on their list several years, having been drafted as pick 23 in the 2018 Rookie Draft.


The day was ultimately dominated by the 6:20pm team news, but North coach David Noble flagged that Atu Bosenavulagi (AF $206k SC $175k FWD) may be in contention for his club debut on Sunday.

He said: “Josh Walker will return this week. Atu, Xerri, Taylor are in good form in the VFL so there are some options.”

Jon Patton (AF $191k SC $189k FWD) also announced his retirement having been under investigation since January after alleged off-field social media incidents.
