Haris Rauf gets shock Pakistan call-up, Dwarshuis & Munro in mix to return

Haris Rauf received a shock Pakistan Test call-up right in the middle of his double game week, while Ben Dwarshuis and Colin Munro are both firmly in the mix to return from injuries on Saturday.

The Sydney Sixers named an unchanged 18-man squad to play the Scorchers on Saturday, with Ben Dwarshuis ($147k BWL) closer to returning from a groin issue.

Sixers squad: Avendano, Ball, Bertus, Bird, Brathwaite, Christian, Dwarshuis, J.Edwards, Hughes, Kerr, Manenti, O’Keefe, Philippe, Pope, Rogers, Sandhu, Silk, Vince

The Scorchers named a 15-man squad for the game, with Colin Munro ($141k BAT) included after a quad injury at the expense of the injured Mitch Marsh ($172k BAT/BWL) and Joe Clarke ($105k BAT).

Whether Munro plays or not is another question, with teammate Liam Livingstone saying: “Colin has been great. He’s obviously been doing his rehab stuff. He’s back training with us now. Fingers crossed he’s back. He’s a massive part of our team.”

Scorchers squad: Turner, Fawad Ahmed, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Hardie, Inglis, Kelly, Livingstone, Munro, Paris, Patterson, Richardson, Rocchiccioli, Roy, Tye

Haris Rauf ($176k BWL) has been named in the Pakistan Test squad for an upcoming series against South Africa which starts on January 26 and flies out of Melbourne on Saturday, thus ending his BBL|10 after only three games.

The Pakistan Cricket Board statement said: “The players will enter the bio-secure bubble on 19 January and the squad will be trimmed to 16 players ahead of the first Test.”

The Stars will have been caught out by Rauf’s selection, given he’s uncapped at Test level.

One player they’re likely to have is Adam Zampa ($186k BWL) who hurt his shoulder in the field in Friday’s win over the Strikers before returning to take a five-wicket haul.

Meanwhile, Friday’s hero Andre Fletcher ($64k WKP/BAT) might also be leaving the Stars prematurely as he’s signed with Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League which starts in the UAE on January 28.

Fletcher said: “I’m not too sure (if I’ll stay or go). I signed a T10 deal a few weeks before the BBL so I’ll have a think about it & speak to my agent… I’d love to stay to be honest.”

The Sixers and Scorchers will play while we’ll learn the squads for Sunday’s Stars-Renegades derby.
