Hurricanes offer Faulkner update, Sandeep added, Milne soreness, Pooran news

The Hobart Hurricanes provided a vague update on James Faulkner’s hamstring injury, while Sandeep Lamichhane was named for the first time and Joe Burns got added to the Heat squad.

Sandeep Lamichhane ($138k BWL) was added to the Hobart Hurricanes’ extended squad after completing his quarantine, meaning Keemo Paul ($105k BAT/BWL) is out of the side to play the Stars on Saturday.

The Hurricanes also provided an update to Honeyball about James Faulkner ($181k BWL) who was absent.

At this stage, they’re not putting a timeframe on his return to playing and only clarified he has a left hamstring injury, with no detail on the grade.

On Paul, who was overlooked for the West Indies tour of Bangladesh earlier this week opening up his availability, the Hurricanes confirmed the intention was for him to always remain for BBL|10 if not called off for national duties.

The Melbourne Stars confirmed their squad on Saturday morning, with Adam Zampa ($173k BWL) ruled out due to suspension, while Nathan Coulter-Nile ($203k BWL) and Jackson Coleman ($96k BWL) are both out injured.

The latter two have been replaced in the squad by fast bowlers Sam Rainbird (BWL) and Sam Elliott (BWL).

The Heat added both Ben Laughlin ($110k BWL) and Joe Burns ($73k BAT), after the latter was dropped from the Test squad, however he’s no guarantee to play.

Heat coach Darren Lehmann said: “We’ve had a few chats with Joey and we’ll see how he is going tomorrow before the game. He’s keen to get in and help out so we’re certainly looking forward to having him back around the group again.”

Also Brisbane confirmed Morne Morkel ($138k BWL) “has also resumed training after a two-week quarantine period due to the Sydney Northern Beaches COVID-19 breakout.” He’s still to prove his fitness after an ankle injury. Joe Denly ($125k BAT) is in the squad and likely to debut.

The Sixers named an extended squad with English import Jake Ball ($125k BWL) set to come in and replace Jason Holder ($169k BAT/BWL) who has departed the side after his three-game stint.

Jackson Bird ($127k BWL) is fit again after calf and Achilles injuries. He said: “I’ve done some good rehab work in the gym to get fit for the game… I bowled off my long run 100% the last 2 sessions. I did some high intensity fielding and some running so I’m good to go.”

Bird also clarified Daniel Hughes’ ($127k BAT) issue in their last game was only cramp.

UPDATES

Adam Milne ($136k BWL) missed the Thunder’s game on Friday night with an ankle issue, which has a history with. The Thunder said in a statement: “Milney finished last match with some ankle soreness & while it’s not considered serious, he will miss tonight’s match as a precaution.”

The Melbourne Stars confirmed no change to Nicholas Pooran’s ($161k WKP/BAT) length of stay despite opting not to join the West Indies’ upcoming tour of Bangladesh earlier this week.

The club will update if that changes. He’s currently only available for six BBL|10 games.
