SQUAD NEWS

Jason Behrendorff ($113k BWL) is the only addition to the Scorchers’ extended 16-man squad, with coach Adam Voges declaring he’s right to go.

Voges said: “Jason Behrendorff arrived last night and trained with us this morning, he’s ready to go against the Thunder.”

He also revealed that Mitch Marsh ($139k BAT/BWL) won’t be bowling just yet, but earmarked him to do so in the coming weeks.

Voges said: “He’s had a couple of bowls here in Canberra but it’s unlikely he’ll be ready to bowl tomorrow night. We’ll continue to build him up. If it’s not in Adelaide, it’ll certainly be in Perth.”

Scorchers squad: Ahmed, Bancroft, Behrendorff, Clarke, Hardie, Inglis, Kelly, Marsh, Munro, Paris, Patterson, Richardson, Rocchiccioli, Turner, Tye, Whiteman

Sydney Thunder named an extended 18-man squad with Jason Sangha ($62k BAT) the only addition, having recovered from a hamstring injury.

Thunder coach Shane Bond confirmed Adam Milne ($125k BWL), who has been in previous squads but missed out with a hamstring issue, will play.

Bond said: “Adam is going to play. We’ve taken a conservative approach to his return but I think it was the right one.

“He’ll add an extra dimension to our attack. He’s bowling fast and has really good skills, I’m really excited to see him around. We’re excited to unleash him.”

Alex Ross ($104k BAT) has also been named despite suffering a groin strain against the Heat last time out.

Thunder squad: Ferguson, Cook, Cutting, Davies, Doggett, Gilkes, Green, Hales, Holt, Khawaja, McAndrew, Milne, Nair, Ross, Sams, J.Sangha, T.Sangha, Tremain

UPDATES

Ashton Agar ($102k BAT/BWL) was listed as 1-2 weeks away in the Scorchers media update but Voges revealed he’s also nursing a calf and finger injury.

Voges said: “He’s tracking along nicely. He’s got the double whammy with the calf and a small crack in one of his fingers.

“We’re hopeful he’ll get up for our Adelaide leg but if not it’ll certainly be in Perth.”

Jason Roy ($160k BAT) and Liam Livingstone ($166k BAT/BWL) will be available from Christmas Day onwards but are no certainties to play for Perth on December 28 away to the Strikers.

Voges said: “They’ll fly to Adelaide on Boxing Day. We’ll have a session with them in the afternoon to assess where they’re at. We’re hopeful they’ll play on the 28th but we’re aware two weeks in quarantine isn’t great preparation.”

The Perth coach also said Joe Clarke ($115k BAT) could be utilised if either of the pair weren’t ready and would remain with the squad for the rest of BBL|10.
