The Perth Scorchers have added two more to the Club’s BBL|16 squad, re-signing fast bowler Brody Couch and wicketkeeper-batter Joel Curtis for the upcoming season.
Couch is set to don the orange again this season, having played eight matches in his first season with the Club after 17 games for Melbourne Stars across the preceding four seasons.
The 26-year-old formed part of the Scorchers’ title-winning team that defeated Sydney Sixers in the BBL|15 Final, and complemented a pace brigade featuring the likes of David Payne, Jhye Richardson and Mahli Beardman.
He also featured in the Perth Scorchers XI that took part in the Global Super League (GSL) in Guyana earlier this year, where he took six wickets at 15.5 apiece.
Like his GSL teammate, hard-hitting left-hander Curtis has recommitted to the Scorchers on a one-year deal.
The 26-year-old made his debut for the Club earlier this year in a tense win over the Strikers at Optus Stadium, having been added to the squad as a Local Replacement Player on the eve of BBL|15.
Curtis’ form in the 50-over format saw him recognised as WA’s One-Day Player of the Year for season 2025-26, finishing third in the competition for runs scored with 431 at 61.57 (strike rate 111.36).
Scorchers General Manager Kade Harvey said: “It’s a great result for us to be able to welcome back Joel and Brody to our BBL squad for this season.
“Both players embraced the opportunity to be a part of the squad last year and we are confident they will do so again this season.
“Brody’s sheer pace always asks a lot of questions of opposition batters, while Joel has established himself as an extremely dangerous wicketkeeper-batter across formats for WA and we are confident he can translate that to the shortest form of the game.”
Couch said: “I’m incredibly excited to sign with the Scorchers again this season.
“Playing in last season’s BBL Final was one of the highlights of my career and I’ll never forget the incredible atmosphere generated by our Members and fans that night.
Curtis said: “I’m extremely grateful to get another opportunity with the Scorchers.
“I enjoyed every moment of my debut in front of our passionate Members and fans last season and hopefully we can give them even more to cheer about this season.
