The Adelaide Strikers named their maiden squad for BBL|10 with replacement player Ryan Gibson ($62k BAT) the only surprise.

Strikers squad: Siddle (c), Agar, Briggs, Gibson, Rashid Khan, Nielsen, Renshaw, Salt, Short, Valente, Weatherald, Wells, Worrall

The Hurricanes opted for an extended 16-man squad this time out, with no surprises and well-owned spinner Wil Parker ($42k BWL) added, which will worry Johan Botha ($78k BWL) owners.

The Sixers haven’t changed anything, nor the Renegades who play back-to-back days.

UPDATES

Adam Milne ($125k BWL) won’t be playing early in BBL|10 with a hamstring issue, with the Sydney Thunder stating he won’t be available until their third match on December 22.

A Thunder statement read: “Coach Shane Bond said while Milne is bowling well in the nets, he’s happy to wait before considering him.”

Mujeeb Ur Rahman ($115k BWL) has recovered from coronavirus and is in the mix to play for the Brisbane Heat on Monday, in Round 2.

A statement said: “Has joined the Heat today in Canberra after being released from hospital on the Gold Coast in the wake of a positive COVID-19 test while in hotel quarantine. Will potentially be available for Monday’s Big Bash League game.”

The availability of Harry Conway ($90k BWL) for Adelaide’s second game in the round will be impacted after being diagnosed with concussion in the Australia A game.

Cricket Australia’s statement read: “Has been withdrawn from the rest of the Australia A-India A tour match after sustaining a concussion while batting on Friday night.”

That increases the chances of Daniel Worrall ($92k BWL) playing both games.

Marcus Harris ($62k BAT) won’t be around early in the BBL, after being added to the Test squad as a replacement, after both David Warner and Will Pucovski ($42k BAT) were ruled out of the First Test starting December 17.

The Stars explained that the omission of Nathan Coulter-Nile ($138k BWL) from Saturday’s game against the Thunder on Fox Cricket’s coverage, stating they were “managing him due to back-to-back games.”

Staying on the Stars, new signing Haris Rauf ($213k BWL) has been priced as the third most expensive player in BBL|10.

CALL-UPS

Brisbane Heat import Dan Lawrence ($125k BAT) won’t be around long in BBL|10 having been called up for England’s 16-man Test squad to play Sri Lanka next month.

An ECB statement read: “The touring party depart on 2 January and will play two Test matches behind closed doors at Galle International Cricket Stadium on 14-18 January and 22-26 January.”

OTHER

Eoin Morgan was also spotted in a Jason Roy photo having landed in Australia with the other BBL-contracted members of England’s squad which played in South Africa. He doesn’t currently have a BBL contract so watch this space.
