R8 Sunday Teams: Simpkin declared fit, Duncan & Stewart named, Hill out

North Melbourne have declared Jy Simpkin fit to play on Saturday, while Mitch Duncan and Tom Stewart have both been confirmed to play for Geelong on Monday and Stephen Hill is out injured.
BIG INS
Mitch Duncan, Tom Stewart, Tobe Watson (26), Nathan Kreuger (26), Brad Close (26), Ben Jarvis (26)
Fremantle and Geelong announced their 26-man squads for Monday’s game with the Cats confirming both Tom Stewart (AF $657k SC $498k DEF) and Mitch Duncan (AF $744k SC $555k MID) will return from injury and play.
Geelong coach Chris Scott said: “They’ll be in it (the 26) and they’ll play too. There’s no doubt about those two, they were close last week.
“With a decent break between the last game and this one we always expected them to come up for this one and they’ve trained well enough already this week for us to be convinced they’ll play.”
Both Freo and Geelong have also named a few potential debutants, although they appear unlikely to make the final cut.
SURVIVED THE CUT
Tom Bellchambers, Luke Shuey, Darcy Cameron, Nathan Jones, Archie Smith
The inclusion of Darcy Cameron (AF $225k SC $147k RUCK/FWD) was the big news among the Sunday teams, given he’s owned by 51% of AFL Fantasy and 41% of SuperCoach coaches.
Pies coach Nathan Buckley said: “We’ve always been a side that’s relied the depth of our squad. We’ve got Darcy Cameron… who can give us a bit of aerial support.”
CUT
Ned McHenry (managed), Atu Bosenavulagi, Stephen Hill (injured), Luke Dahlhaus (injured)
Well-owned Crows rookie Ned McHenry has been managed out by Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks, although it sounds like he will return.
Nicks said: “Young player, hard in-and-under, attacks the footy. He’s a bit bruised and battered, nothing medical.
“We’ve got a challenge coming up over the next six rounds where they pile on top of each other, so we wanted to make sure he was right to go and not trying to push through too much soreness. We felt like it was about the right time for Ned, so we’ll freshen him up a bit.”
Popular SuperCoach option Stephen Hill (AF $444k SC $266k DEF/FWD) has been ruled out with an adductor strain for Freo too, while Pies rookie Atu Bosenavulagi (AF $213k SC $139k FWD) has only lasted two games.
Dockers Football GM Peter Bell said: “Stephen pulled up sore following our game against West Coast on Sunday.
“He demonstrated some tightness during testing at our injury clinic on Monday and he was sent for a scan, which showed a small strain in the adductor muscle. We have ruled Stephen out of this Monday’s game but we are hopeful of a quick recovery.”
DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT
Bailey Williams, Harry Edwards, Nic Reid, Keidean Coleman, Connor Ballenden, Alex Witherden
Five potential debutants missed out this weekend, while Alex Witherden (AF $553k SC $392k DEF) still can’t break into Brisbane’s 22.
OTHERS
North Melbourne declared popular option Jy Simpkin (AF $671k SC $533k MID/FWD) good to go for Saturday’s match against Carlton after being named in the 22 on Thursday despite an ankle injury cloud.
Kangas Football GM Brady Rawlings said: “We’ve given Jy a light week, as he’s done a huge amount of work this year. He got through the Captain’s Run this morning and he will be right to play.”
Kyron Hayden (AF $256k SC $220k MID) remains in North’s 22 despite his concussion last round. Kangas coach Rhyce Shaw said: “He’s passed all of the tests this week.”
