Port concern for Rozee, Dunkley update, several Swans doubts

It’s been a relatively quiet start to the week with the unusual distraction of a Monday night game, but there’s been updates on Connor Rozee and Josh Dunkley and more chaos at Sydney.

NOT SO ROZEE
There’s may be some doubt around the availability of Connor Rozee (AF $520k SC $369k MID/FWD*) next round, despite playing out Sunday’s win over Carlton.

Port Football GM Chris Davies said: “Connor Rozee landed awkwardly on his heel.”

Steven Motlop (AF $474k SC $328k FWD) was on crutches post-game with an ankle injury, while Ryan Burton (AF $531k SC $387k DEF) didn’t finish the game due to a quad problem.

Davies added: “We’ll assess those guys (Rozee, Motlop and Burton) during the week but pleasingly for us we have depth we can call upon.”

SLAM DUNK
Normally a popular pick Josh Dunkley (AF $787k SC $602k MID) has been off the radar due to his ankle injury which still will sideline him for another 3-5 weeks.

Dunkley told the Bulldogs podcast: “It’s going pretty well. I’ve ticked a few boxes in the last week or so. I’m out of the moon boot and got running Tuesday last week for the first time.”

The Dogs released their weekly injury update on Monday with Aaron Naughton (AF $372k SC $316k FWD) also 4-6 weeks away.

Bulldogs Medical Services Manager Chris Bell, said: “Aaron is going well after his syndesmosis ankle surgery.

“He has commenced running and will continue to progress over the next couple of weeks. We’re optimistic that we’ll see him back in the next four to six weeks.”

SWAN DIVE
Sydney revealed Colin O’Riordan (hip), Will Hayward (knee) and George Hewett (back) are all in doubt for Round Eight.

They’re not overly AFL Fantasy or SuperCoach but their absences could open the door for a Justin McInerney (AF $282k SC $232k MID) or unsighted pre-season fave Will Gould (AF $220k SC $117k DEF).

Sydney Executive GM of Football Charlie Gardiner did point out a few talls could return.

“We do have a few boys back with Sam Reid getting through a scrimmage session on the weekend so he will be available,” Gardiner said. “Joel Amartey and Lewis Melican will also be fit and available for selection, which is a positive.”

Joel Amartey (AF $170k SC $123k RUCK) is an interesting option, as coach John Longmire floated he may debuted given their shortage of rucks before succumbing to injury, so he’s an early rookie flag.

TOMORROW
We’ll be back to normal once the round ends, with Longmire speaking to the media, along with Geelong’s Mark Blicavs and Carlton’s Sam Docherty.
