SURVIVED THE CUT
Marc Murphy, Patrick Cripps, Xavier Duursma, Sam Mayes, Darren Minchington, Luke Jackson, Michael Frederick, Luke Shuey, Ryan Byrnes

Two debutants were confirmed on Friday, while two players both received their first opportunity at new clubs, although they’re a tad too expensive to snap up.

Carlton coach David Teague put to bed doubt around the fitness of Patrick Cripps (AF $732k SC $551k MID) after a shoulder issue last round.

Teague said: “Crippa trained Wednesday with no issue and was doing tackling so he should be right unless something new comes up.”

The Blues boss also said Marc Murphy (AF $633k SC $434k MID) “should be fine”with his hip problem.

Sam Mayes (AF $300k SC $213k MID) gets his Port debut after leaving the Brisbane Lions, while Darren Minchington (AF $308k SC $117k FWD) is named by the Hawks after 28 games for the Saints.

DEBUTANTS
Ryan Byrnes
(AF $170k SC $117k MID) is “a strong inside midfielder with great breakaway speed & a knack for racking up possessions”. He was taken by the Saints at pick 52 in last year’s draft.

Michael Frederick (AF $170k SC $117k FWD) went to Freo with pick 61 in the 2019 AFL Draft. He comes in for Nat Fyfe and is “a wingman with impressive running ability”.

CUT
Toby Greene (injury), Scott Lycett (injury), Jonathon Ceglar (injury)

Injury-prone Giant Toby Greene (AF $656k SC $471k FWD) was a late withdrawal for their Saturday match with the Brisbane Lions due to a knee injury.

Giants Football GM Jason McCartney said: “On a six-day break, we’ve taken a cautious approach with Toby who’s pulled up a bit tight after our main session.”

Jonathon Ceglar (AF $571k SC $415k RUCK) is out for the Hawks, which is good news for Max Gawn (AF $922k SC $753k RUCK) owners. Ben McEvoy will deputise in the ruck, but Gawn has a great record against Hawthorn.

DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT
Callum Moore, Matthew Cottrell, Sam Philp, Mitch Georgiades, Tom Rockliff, Harry Jones, Lloyd Meek, Tobe Watson, Xavier O’Neill

OTHERS
Well-owned Eagle Jarrod Brander (AF $354k SC $235k DEF/FWD) seems to have fallen out of favour at West Coast after a minor hip problem. Brander wasn’t even in West Coast’s extended 26-man squad on Thursday.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson said: “He’s available. He’s fully trained this week so he’s available but he wasn’t selected.”

Collingwood confirmed Jordan De Goey (AF $560k SC $413k FWD) needs finger surgery, although they won’t know any timeframe for a return until after the surgery.

Pies Football GM Geoff Walsh said: “Jordan will have surgery over the weekend and will remain with the team while he recovers. We will have a better idea of an expected return date following his surgery.”

TOMORROW
Alistair Clarkson’s Friday press conference got hastily re-arranged for Saturday, otherwise we’ve got a full day of footy.
