Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir confirmed young gun Murphy Reid is in doubt for Friday’s clash with Adelaide with a groin concern.
Longmuir said: “He’s in a bit of doubt … he got a hit in the nether regions and we’re just monitoring it. We’ll weigh it up.
“If we get a bit closer to the game and the doc say there’s nothing to worry about, then we’ll look to play him because he’s got no other issues going on.
“He’s handling the workload really well and he wants to keep playing. But we’ll make that call a bit later.”
Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks admitted he’s weighing up playing Taylor Walker or not, although it’s understood he flew to Perth, while youngsters Archie Ludowyke and Oscar Ryan didn’t.
Lachlan McAndrew was on the plane, with Nicks confirming he’ll play after Reilly O’Brien came in for one game. Nicks said: “We’ve got a number of guys that will play, so McAndrew will come back in.
“Boz (James Borlase) is in really good shape, Nankervis is feeling fantastic, so there’s guys that have pushed their way back through injury and a couple that we managed (last week) that are pretty obvious ones (to return).”
Wayne Milera, however, will miss again with a hamstring injury. Nicks explained: “Junior’s not happy with me, he’s so hungry to play, he’s had such a good year, such a strong year, but there’s risk v reward when it comes to that.
“He moved really well (at training this week), so we’ll be even more confident next week, everything going well in the next couple of sessions.”
St Kilda coach Ross Lyon provided a vague update on Tom De Koning, along with a brief snippet on Brad Hill who he said is “pretty good” after a knee scare but eluded to several players being in doubt.
Lyon said on TDK: “He had a it of a shoulder knock. We’ll assess. We’re not in a position to really manage people with a 6 (day break) into a 5 (day break), at the end of a campaign, we’ll just see how it comes out in the wash.
“There’s a bit to work through this week, not only tom but probably 7-8 players.”
When asked about Liam Ryan, Lyon replied: “He had a shoulder knock, came back on. Brad Hill is pretty good. Wood won’t play, Nas won’t play. They’re important to us.”
Geelong coach Chris Scott said he expected Patrick Dangerfield to return. When asked if he’d play, Scott said: “I think so. We have got a session today, and I am confident because we held him back last week.
“Not withstanding any other issue that comes up, I think it is very likely he will play.” Scott also said a decision was made on Jeremy Cameron not playing this week, instead held back for Round 24 following injury.
