Adelaide revealed Wayne Milera is set to return to availability this weekend following a hamstring injury.
Crows General Manager High Performance Ian McKeown said: “Junior had a very low level strain, he could have pushed to play last weekend but we wanted to give him another week to ensure he was fully recovered.”
Riley Thilthorpe is expected to be available following illness, while Mitch Hinge will miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring strain.
Archie Roberts is firmly in the mix to return this round following 2 games out with a shoulder injury. The Dons update said: “Essendon could potentially have Archie Roberts (shoulder) and Zak Johnson (foot) available for selection for their round 18 fixture against Brisbane.
“The duo’s availability will be subject to getting through main training on Thursday.”
Mid-season Draft top pick Jaxon Artemis will also be available after hamstring soreness.
GWS confirmed Lachie Whitfield will miss their Round 18 game against Geelong. The update said: “The GIANTS will be without Lachie Whitfield this weekend, with the experienced defender sidelined with concussion.”
The Giants also confirmed Brent Daniels’ timeline on his return from a calf injury remains TBC.
St Kilda has confirmed Jack Sinclair’s season is over after suffering a calf injury in Round 14 against GWS.
Saints GM of Football Lenny Hayes said: “We wanted to give Jack every opportunity as we explored all available options and after those consultations, we’ve made the decision to rule him out for the remainder of the season.”
Ruckman Tom De Koning has resumed running, but remains to be confirmed for a timeline. TDK will progressively increase his training loads over the coming weeks, meaning Rowan Marshall will get an extended run in the ruck.
Sydney ruckman Peter Ladhams has been ruled out for a further 2-3 weeks due to groin pain, which means Brodie Grundy will remain solo ruck.
The Swans update said: “Peter has developed groin pain over the past 2 weeks and will undergo a short period of rehabilitation.” Sydney also revealed Tom Papley is a test to play following a calf injury.
Brisbane have plenty of reinforcements coming in, with Hugh McCluggage (calf) and Dayne Zorko (quad) “expected to be available for selection this week”. Keidean Coleman and Dan Annable both played VFL on weekend following injury lay-offs too.
Fremantle Director of Performance Adam Beard provided an update on Hayden Young. He said: “Hayden had a groin issue during the Giants game and couldn’t complete the game. He did some straight-line running today at main training, and we’ll see how he pulls up, he’ll be a test.”
Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge offered an update on Karl Amon (knee). Burge said: “Karl manages an issue which is a longer-term issue… it became apparent that we were probably going to need to take a week.
“He was out there today doing some straight-line running and some conditioning afterwards. Our expectation is he’ll return to training on Thursday, and then we’ll make a further assessment if we are progressing back into match play or if we need more time.”
Melbourne revealed Christian Salem (foot) is aiming to return to play this weekend, while they provided updates on Max Heath and Lukas Cooke.
Dees AFL High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said: “Unfortunately, Max was unable to get up due to his ongoing shoulder soreness. He’ll integrate into this week’s main training and will once again need to prove his fitness to be available for this weekend’s game.
“Lukas has progressed well through his rehab of that facial fracture. He’ll return to full training this week and will look to be available.”
Carlton revealed Liam Reidy (ankle) and Harry Dean (hand) both face tests to return from injury. Collingwood confirmed Scott Pendlebury is available after calf awareness while Isaac Quaynor (ankle) is ruled out for another week.
North Melbourne revealed George Wardlaw will miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring strain. Richmond confirmed Jack Ross is in concussion protocols and TBC.
The Bulldogs announced Connor Budarick will face an extended period on the sidelines with a syndesmosis injury while Bailey Williams is a test to return from a hamstring injury.
Eagles young gun Cooper Duff-Tytler will miss 2-4 weeks with a calf injury, while Port’s Kane Farrell faces a fitness test to return from a groin injury.
