Geelong defender Tom Stewart will miss his side’s Round 14 game against Gold Coast, while Sydney’s Justin McInerney is set for an extended stint on the sidelines.
In Geelong’s injury report, the Cats revealed that Tom Stewart is in concussion protocol following a contest seconds before the final siren in last Thursday’s loss to Adelaide.
Geelong Cats EGM Football Andrew Mackie said: “Tom was assessed post-game by our medical team and subsequently has entered the concussion protocol.
“He will miss Friday night’s match and we will continue to monitor him through the protocols.”
The Cats have declared running defender Lawson Humphries “available for selection” following an ankle injury.
Sydney provided further bad injury news with Justin McInerney out for up to 8-10 weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Swans update said: “Justin was removed from the match against St Kilda after reporting hamstring pain, with follow up scans revealing a hamstring tear. 8-10 weeks.”
Adelaide gun Izak Rankine will face a fitness test following a calf injury with the Crows yet to declare him certain to return.
Crows General Manager High Performance Ian McKeown said: “Izak is presenting really well, however we won’t rush his return.”
Essendon revealed Dyson Sharp is a test for their clash with Melbourne following a shoulder injury suffered a month ago.
Brisbane’s injury list had Hugh McCluggage down to miss 4 more weeks with a calf injury, while Gold Coast’s Wil Powell is out in the “short term” with a shoulder injury.
Port’s Josh Lai will miss this week due to concussion protocols, while Kane Farrell (groin) and Jack Lukosius (shoulder) are both tests to return.
Richmond talent Taj Hotton is now “available” to play following a hip injury, while ruckman Toby Nankervis (hamstring) faces a test to return.
Tigers High Performance Manager Ben Serpell said: “[Toby] has got through a fair bit of work. We had him down for a test last week.
“We actually still just want to see him do a little bit more training before we make him available, so we’ll list him as a test again this week, and hopefully he’ll be available next week.”
